The Opening Evaluation: Gibbs is a gifted athlete first of all. He makes so many things on the football field look easy. He is a natural.
Wide receiver is the position he is most comfortable at — he has played more there than any other position, but cornerback may be where he has the most upside. He worked out there at The Opening and he really matched up well with some of the top wide receivers in the country.
To make that even more impressive, Gibbs, a 6-foot-2, 191 pound junior was going against guys who are a year older than him. He can still refine his game in the footwork department and work on his eyes where he does not get locked in, but he showed great recovery speed, the ability to accelerate with top wideouts, and his ball skills were on display.
Gibbs is currently ranked No. 4 in the 2017 class and he will likely be in discussion for the top spot over the next year. Where do you want him to play? Wide receiver? Cornerback? Safety? You have your pick.
There is not a leader at this time for Gibbs, but Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee are three that have his interest. Do not look for a decision to come in 2015.
