I like his tape also.

Saying that he doesn't seem to have the speed the Smith has playing against the top competition in Florida.

I'd like to see this kid play defense for some reason.

I think he'd be great at either but yes, I think he's be a great larger corner or safety. He's crazy good after the catch.

I posted this one as well in case you didn't see it. Really good slot guy/KR/PR who could play X. Committed to NW so I think he probably has grades.

I am familiar with this young man.

But, do you take him over Young? I don't think so.

No but they wanted Calvin but aren't getting him so he'd be a good option at slot IMO if they want one.

He is very good after the catch. But, I don't think he has the speed and he suddenness to make those moves consistently at the college level.

But, him at safety really intrigues me, especially with his good ball skills. Paging Mr. Elko...this kids is from NC and has a WF offer.

True. He ain't running circles like that around college players. Haha. He has some elite athleticism too and I don't know his official stats but I think he's a pretty big kid as well.

He's a solid prospect, but one that could very well never see the field at Notre Dame based off the timing with the big and talented WR class in 2016. The 2018 WR class is absolutely loaded and Notre Dame should be able to land 3 very good WRs regardless of record because the class is simply that deep.

With that said, he is somewhat in the mold of Chase Claypool and you can tell he is a heck of an athlete, raw at the position and has no idea what he is doing right now. (Yes, Smith isn't 6'4/225 with freakish athleticism, but I am talking about his actual style of play and where he is as a football player.)

You can mold those kids at the receiver position. In college football, you don't need a Laquon Treadwell/Calvin Ridley to have success in the pass game. The NFL, yes, but college no.

You can get a receiver the football in college and you can manufacture a passing game.

Smith fits the mold that Notre Dame looks for in a athlete they can develop, however, the molder is gone. If he wants to commit tomorrow you take him, but it's also a risky take, as Smith's ceiling will depend on a future hire.

Just remember guys If I made my own film that was produced for scout or 247 I would be a five star.

anyone remember when some kid who was total benchwarmer, reserve made a highlight tape? it was frickin hilarious. he would run down on kickoff coverage and get laid out, whiff on tackles, etc. kid was about 5'8" 150, the tape had all the dramatic music, slow motion etc at the beginning listed his stats with some other rreal funny shit FWIR.

I couldn't agree more and if ND is going take a true project then I hope they take a chance on this kid because of that size and athleticism. He very well might not make it as a WR and I would rather him as an Athlete if he came to ND but at the very least I can see him as a Special Teams star.

Of all the coaching catastrophes this past year, not starting claypool is one of the biggest. If Kelly squanders this kids abilities it will go down as a major tragedy. ESPN would be touting chase as megatron 2.0 already if he played for bama. What a pity!

I agree that if Claypool doesn't get on the field often and put in position to make plays, it'll be ridiculous. As far as him starting last year, no. Physically and athletically he was ready but mentally, coming from Canada, I dont think he was there. He simply wasn't better than ESB and THjr was our Sr. X WR without a doubt. I don't think some fans have realized how good this kid really is though. I hope he gets a good look this year and I think he could possibly play X and I'd love to see it.

Marcus Pollard is another example. He did pretty well for the Colts considering he played b-ball in college. Colts have another college b-ball player in Schoopes playing TE for them now. He was coming on strong the last quarter of the season.

He told the Pittsburgh Rivals site he is no longer visiting ND this weekend. Looks like Pitt is the favorite here.

I don't know what's crazier, Smith picking Pitt or ND offering Yeast in the 11th hour, 58th minute?

It's a mad world I tell you.
