This rebuild we’re speaking of will be happening with nationally recruited Junior and Sophomore OL. 4 of the highest rated WR’s of the Kelly era. Arguably the best receiving TE in college football. Plus two very productive RB’s. Sounds terrible.

Where the fuck did I say we suck? Enlighten me. I said we have a number of issues, including an anemic passing game and we'll be replacing the majority of our OL starters. Prove me wrong.

ok, you didn't say we SUCK but your complete negative tone on the program why he would want to come here gives that impression...

1st. anemic passing game? he was throwing for avg 240 a game...with him at qb ND found the running game to be more effective to get the most out of Book. If we had Trask or someone willing to sling it down field, do you think we just RTDB

2. we talk all the time about how other programs just reload instead of rebuilding...we have been recruiting the OLINE very well...why should this be different for us? are we going to be the same line as we are this year? idk, but when you have a moniker for OLINE U i would imagine that would be enticing for a QB to play behind

3. Notre Dame gets a ton of exposure..whether good or bad....if you want the spotlight on your career, QB at ND is it

4. Young and relatable OC who has played the position

5. um playoffs this year, recent success the past several seasons...there are MANY reasons to come here

Didn't say it sounded terrible. Just said it might not be attractive to a GT QB who is looking to parlay his last season in CFB into an NFL gig. Stop inserting your own narrative.

Please don't confuse honest assessment with being negative. I love where the program as a whole is at. I think it's trending in the right direction still. What I don't love is the offense's inconsistencies, specficially surrounding the passing game.

My issue with the passing game is our receivers. I'm sure it's not for lack of effort, but they're just not all that good. At least not to the level you need them to be in order to compete with the defenses we need to compete against in order to take the next step. They don't need to be blue chippers, but it would be nice if they could get a little separation once in a while. That's not Book's fault. He has his own issues, that's not one of them.

I don't care how highly rated an OL is, you can't just plug them in year one as a starter and expect them to be elite. Our OL was GREAT this year, until we lost our center. Now, not so much. Why should we believe next year, after losing 3-4 starters we will be even remotely as good?

3. Notre Dame gets a ton of exposure..whether good or bad....if you want the spotlight on your career, QB at ND is it

Agreed. Never suggested otherwise.

4. Young and relatable OC who has played the position

I mean, OK. Maybe that's a selling point, but also maybe it's not. Maybe a QB transfer would prefer a QB coach/OC with a more proven track record.

5. um playoffs this year, recent success the past several seasons...there are MANY reasons to come here

Great look, no doubt. Again, never suggested otherwise.

This is where fans divide into groups after a successful season that is capped w/ a nationally embarrassing beat down.

Just b/c a fan is objective doesn’t mean he hates the HC or thinks the program sucks. Some folks call them like they see them. I wish more ND reporters would do that but I understand they must be a bit more removed emotionally from the program.

Then there are fans similar to above that are more about hedging their bets. They are the PTSD fan who gets excited by a season like this and then the other shoe inevitably drops and it’s despairingly “I told you so” time. IMO, it’s a defense mechanism vs the ND haters. They try to get ahead of an obvious beat down by predicting the worst. While they’re doing that, however; ND fans usually chime in by saying “you should go root for another team” so this MO is not a very wise one.

Then you have Pollyanna who thinks “what tho the odds”. There’s nothing wrong w/ this among ND fans but they look silly when discussing CFP w/ fans of all stripes. At least acknowledge ND vs Clemson was a mismatch and hope that they can be competitive vs Bama knowing it probably ends ugly. This is the definition of fan...short for fanatic...nothing wrong with it & is probably the healthiest way to look at fandom.

I’m sure most of us have related to all three of the above at some time. Look at all the game day threads. For games 1-10, most of us were on the same page. From the ACC CG on the threads get longer b/c the opinions get more diverse & we fans need a place to vent & debate. That’s where message boards come in. Embrace it or find another outlet. We are all rooting for the same team. Agree to disagree and hope for the best. It’s just a game.

And lastly, most of us don’t know each other personally so it’s extremely easy to take typed posts out of context. For instance, this post will be misread and called out when it’s really just miscommunication and that person who disagrees is closer to being on the same page than they realize. I am as guilty of misinterpreting posts as anyone on here.

It literally has nothing to do with what we are talking about. We are not talking about poaching the backup QB, that might eventually be the starter, from Clemson or Bama. We're talking about a transfer QB from Boise State that just had a competitive game with Wyoming.

In no universe is that the same thing. Sorry.

Entered the Transfer Portal.

If we have a transfer at QB, could he be a viable backup option? Hasnt played much, but its not like he hasn't taken any snaps.

Highly doubt he is entering the protal to go be a back up somewhere. Did we even offer out of HS?
