Specifically the travel and media, I would think we could sell this even more. Because it's very true.

I think the weather is a big selling point. It's not just the weather you play in, it's the weather you practice in and the weather you live in. 21 of 32 teams are in cold winter cities where it snows.

Oddly enough, if the playoffs started today only 7 of the 12 teams play in cold weather cities

While I think that makes sense, I'm not sure I'd choose to go that route, if I was trying to sell the product, as I don't think that'd be quite as obvious for 17-18 year old kids to relate to. Travel and media can be sold, pretty much universally, as exciting and fun.

100% disagree. When Todd Lyght and Jeff Burris are the millionaires telling you that, it's straight EF Hutton. Is that my lead? No. But when those guys walk out and get in a new S Class or Bently. That gets their attention.

Agree to disagree, but I think it's somewhat foolish to think that selling the positives of playing in cold weather is the same as talking about traveling coast to coast or giving interviews that reach millions of people.

And I don't mean that as an insult, I just don't think it's even close in the eyes of most teenagers from. Cali, Texas, Florida, etc.

On the flip side, enjoy the warm weather while you can for the next 3-5 years

This is key. The argument about if you make it to the league you will have to play in cold weather so to prepare for that go to college in cold weather is a farce.

If you think you are good enough to make it to the league, then why spend 3-5 years in crap weather, when you could enjoy the outside and the beach in Miami or LA. Then when it's time to earn a living you will live and work in the cold weather cities. Why shouldn't these kids enjoy themselves when they have the ability to chose what type of climate they can live in. Once they are in the draft they have no control over what type of climate the city the team that drafts them in has.

Too cold for ya? Good luck playing playoff football in the NFL if you're ever given the opportunity!

Never understood this argument. It's a little different when you're making life-changing money as a PROFESSIONAL to play in shitty weather. I have absolutely no qualms with a college kid factoring weather in his choice in where to spend the next 3-4 years of his amateur life.

Because if you ask 100 high school football recruits, 98 of them will be probably say that they have dreams of playing in the NFL. If you want to play in the NFL, wouldn't you want to prepare yourself for the NFL as much as possible? And part of that preparation is playing in very nasty weather conditions.

But if playing in 75 and sunny all season long then thats fine. But playing in a few 30 degree games will make the NFL transition a lot easier when he is playing in the AFC/NFC Championship game and its 9 degrees outside.

Would be interesting to see a study on the current most successful NFLers (perhaps Pro Bowlers?) and where they went to school. My guess is there would be zero climate correlation.

I counted 38 players that played in the 2015 pro bowl that went to cold weather colleges. I didn't consider Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as cold weather schools, but you could definitely consider them cold weather schools when they're playing the last few games of the season.

I believe there are 82 players that make the PB. That means ~50% split, giving cold weather the benefit of rounding up. Seems to me it's a total coin flip and cold weather colleges have no advantage in representation, at least at this sample size.

ISD said pretty strongly that Johnson just didn't care for it. I gotta imagine he's just being polite
