made his top6 but we are a hat on the table

I'd agree and wouldn't have posted this BUT he did official to Stanford and has a 3.92 GPA. Let's see if he visits. If he wants to play immediately and is as nerdy as advertised, ND might have a shot.

He will decide between Oregon and Notre Dame for his final official visit. The Ducks became the latest school to offer him when they hired Willie Taggart has head coach.

Johnson plans to make his choice prior to National Signing Day on Feb. 1.

"I really am trying to focus on three priorities," he said. "First, I want to make sure it is an environment I'm comfortable in. If something happens and I don't have football, could I still be happy there? Second is obviously education. Right now I'm planning on majoring in engineering and I want to make sure the school I choose has a good curriculum for that. Finally, I want to go somewhere that has potential to win, where the coaches know what they are doing and have been successful and where they will teach me on and off the field."

Stanford: "I've had my eye on them for a while. I've visited there before and I'm ready to go back so my parents can see it for the first time. I want to get to know the coaches better, spend more time with the players ... just take it all in once again."

Alabama: "I've been there a lot. It's a program that has had tremendous success and is about to have a chance to win another national title. Being around people and coaches who know what they are doing and have had a lot of success doing it - that never gets old."

Auburn: "I've been there many times, too. It just has that home feel to it. I know a lot of players there. I probably have more friends there than anywhere. They were the first school to offer me so of course I want to make sure I take an official visit there."

Oregon: "They didn't have a lot of success this year, but they've been great in the last decade. With a new coach coming in and a lot of good players returning, I feel like they will be back among the top teams in the nation soon."

Texas: "(Former) coach (Charlie) Strong and his staff offered me, then when coach (Tom) Herman was hired that staff re-offered me. They really want me there. They've put a lot of time in getting to know me. The program and school has a great tradition. I'm looking forward to seeing the campus for the first time."

Notre Dame: "It's Notre Dame. I'm not sure a lot of other things need to be said. The coaches have been talking to me and stressing the need for defensive lineman. They had a rough year this year, but I know they will be back on top soon."

Don't discount Stanford just yet. Bama is pursuing L. Ray much harder than Johnson so the Tide is out of this one. I think Auburn as well but a Cardinal commitment would not shock me.

You never know with the kids these days. LoL

Getting a foot n the door in Mobile would be good for the Irish. Some pretty good players come from down that way. This one is a longshot for the Irish but strange things happen around NSD.

Maybe he will look at our depth chart and realize he will start from day one and prob be a three year stud before going pro

Jay Hayes, Bonner, Kareem... I haven't seen anything that says He can't push his way into major minutes... The opportunity is there

I hear you but if Kareem gets himself in top notch shape, I bet you he can be pretty good. For some reason he came to ND in terrible shape but started to come around toward the end of the year.

Absolutely. I'm surprised we haven't landed a high end DE. I really thought we were going to get Paschal.

Stanford pulling kids from Bama what the hell is going on...

At the end of the day, the Stanford pitch is incredibly attractive. David Shaw, while smug, is likely someone that a lot of parents look at as an ideal role model. Then you add that to the fact that the football is successful AND you are telling mom that I am going to get your kid a truly elite education.

Not from Bama, but Auburn.

What always cracked me up about Shaw's comment about not doing satellite camps because "maybe one player in the state could get in to Stanford"... besides being an outright and obvious lie... is that he recruits Texas and the deep south virtually every year with many signees.

Stanford's recruiting class has me hella jealous. It's the type of classes we need to start bringing in. If Stanford can do it I don't want to hear anymore excuses that we can't get certain kids in. Unreal job by Shaw even though he's a hot bag of shit
