down at the army all american game, loy spoke to a bunch of texas recruits --not specifically committed to texas but prospects from texas and was asked about the shark....while they hoped there was going to be a package of texas players going to texas...one recruit said to loy “people are sleeping on Notre Dame. He loves it there.”

Based on upshot thread, Gug not feeling confident about us landing him. And we all know they're about as blindly optimistic as Loy. Don't wanna be a wet blanket, but I would temper expectations with this one.

Leave you guys alone for less than 3 hours and you lose him? Come on fellas, really?

Guess it's my fault. Turn your head around here and chaos ensues.

I'm gonna be pi$$ed if i gotta go back through these threads and rep the "We ain't gettin' neither of them" boobirds.

...hey, we do have God on our side. It could happen.

Lou Holtz claims he once responded to another coach, I believe it was Jimmie Johnson, who said he was tired of Notre Dame folks believing that God favored Notre Dame but that was a load of crap. His response allegedly was that it might be that our Lord may not care who won, but....His mother sure did!!

I believe the common understanding is that when Wiltfong throws down a CB he usually has a justification for it.

Tom Loy is now the only one with a ND CB he posted in December. Four new ones this month all to Texas.

This is what drives me nuts about Loy sometimes he has this write up and then Wilfong throws down a CB for Texas.

While I think you have reason to be upset over some of his antics, he did the same with Hayes and was right. Also, Shaun Crawford. So, I think whats more important is to understand what Wiltfong is doing with his. Wiltfong is using his as a daily barometer on where he thinks that prospect will go. Loy is using it as a guess on where he thinks they'll ultimately end up and Wiltfong is more the flavor of the day. He's flip flopping his for other kids as well, not just ND. So today Wiltfong thinks Texas, that doesn't mean that he won't have to change it again. He was told at one point that Hayes was down to MSU and OSU so he changed his CB that day as well. How'd that work out for him. Ultimately had to change it back to ND when he heard that ND was once again the favorite.

And I feel like Wiltfong bases his judgments more on the big recruiting picture, whereas Loy is basing his opinion off of particular sources.

Loy is just way too pro-ND to take seriously. Yes, he was right with Hayes (Jaime from ISD was here for the Irish Invasion and we had drinks with him, and he and Matt Freeman had Hayes to ND all the way back in the spring or whenever II was), and he's had a couple of other good calls.

But the problem is he CB’s WAY too many guys to ND. I mean, you’ll recall he once had 6 RB’s CB’d to ND in one cycle. That’s ridiculous and it makes it really hard to take him seriously. I know his fanboy (not you) is probably going to come on here to defend him, but there are things about the dude’s reporting in the past that I won’t print here that are not only overly homerish but downright shady. Hopefully that has changed and we can take his reporting much more seriously, because he SEEMS to have some good stuff.

Totally see where you are coming from and Loy has gotten better with this but there have been plenty of times where he has swung and missed while wilfong had his CB changed for weeks. Juju Smith and Terrence Alexander if I remember correctly are perfect examples.

I forgot the year I think it was last year where Hollywood brought up he had like 7 of the top 10 backs coming to ND at one point and just kept going and going. Pretty sure he was on board with Dexter Williams, SoSo Jambo and Ronald Jones all coming to ND at one point. He's just way to trigger happy with his picks and as much as he works his butt off its just a bad look and he's setting himself up to look bad. But when he nails a crystal ball he lets the world know.

I take him with a grain of salt for sure, but I think he usually has a good reason for his opinions, even when they are wrong. If he thinks a kid is coming, its a good signal that they have legitimaite interest.

Loy never makes a CB without giving his reason why. Love his transparency. ND man.

I'll extrapolate a little more on this later but just checking in for now to say that I was by no means supporting Loy and some of his antics. I guess it was more to say that I don't put the same credence in Wiltfong's CB's as I used to because of the way he's clearly going about using it. Wiltfong will be money a couple days before, so if he still has Texas then, I'll take it more seriously. As of right now Witlfong's CB just means thats the school he's heard the most positive things about today or this week.
