If we lose to UNC, even with 2 OL out, we just aren’t as good as we thought. I’m concerned, as most fans would be, but not worried. This UNC team isn’t Clemson and they’ve had some pretty bad performances this year. We’ll be fine. I refuse to talk myself into being scared of a team that lost to Florida St.

Agree with YJ. I think people give UNC way too much credit. They did lose to Florida St and Virginia after all. Their defense is horrid. Their offense has playmakers but so does Clemson.

Yea, there's just no excuse for losing to FSU this year.

I'm concerned as I would be any game on the road. We've had a bye week of rest, and our talent is better, even without 2 OLs. Our D is healthy.

And UNC has yet to play a team in the top 5 on D (in the ACC). They played the #6 D in the ACC, and only scored 26.

IDK. We constantly talk about how good our OL is, how good the recruiting has been, and how good Quinn is....

UNC's D isn't that good. Gave up 40+ three times this year. They gave up 50+ to Wake who has a pretty poor OL. We've had two weeks to figure out C. We have a week to figure out RG. IMO, Kramer has arguably been the weak link this year on the OL.

Not that worried. If we can't figure it out, we, and Quinn, are just not that good up front.

UNC’s defense is good at getting to the QB though. Averaging 3.375 sacks a game, that’s more than us.

My only concern is ND coming out flat &/or uncharacteristically turning the ball over to UNC. That’s how UNC got behind FSU, a pick six here, a lost fumble that leads to points there. You can’t afford to do that against a high powered offense that can turn a turnover into points in a matter of seconds. Don’t turn the ball over & ND wins.

Tommy Kramer being in or out of the lineup will not be the difference in the UNC game. Notre Dame should still win why by two scores!

And look at the teams and OLs they've played. 16 of their 27 (59%) sacks came vs Syracuse/Duke/Wake. 7 alone vs Syracuse, who is #118 in passing down sack rate (15.6%).

Not saying they can't get to the QB at times, but most of their sacks came vs bad teams.

We gave up 2 sacks to Clemson, who averages 3.75, and 2 to Pitt, who averages 4.4. Those are two of the top three sack leaders in the league.

Lugg is a perfect guy for a strongside right guard. Kraemer's game is power. So is Lugg's. UNC DLine is not their strength; we might be fine.

The hidden big deal here is how much Tommy picked up rushers trying to shred by Patterson on Patterson's right side and how good he and Hainsey were coordinating the outside right areas. Sometimes it is almost as if Hainsey and Kraemer had the same mind on those stunts. We can't expect Lugg to get all of that, but he's pretty good.

Our other Tommy (Rees) could always call a game with Lugg in mind (a little bit) and Captain Hainsey will call out pre-play protections with the big fellow in mind. We WILL have that C/RG gap with two new sides to it though.

Lugg has a ton of experience for a backup. Not worried about the drop off with him. Just get Correll up to speed which will benefit us next year too.

Lugg played very well last year, so hopefully he picks up where he left off. We still have Gibbons who could slot inside if need be, but this is certainly straining the OL depth.

Yes it is straining the OL depth, but it’s only going to be for one game. Kramer should be full for for Syracuse.

Can't see any reason to rush him back for Syracuse

I’d wager his best bet is to be available for the ACC CG rematch w/ Clemson assuming ND wins a berth.
Yeah, I mean no earlier than Wake (for the sake of having a warm-up game under his belt) at the earliest.

As long as we play better than we did in Ann Arbor last year we will win. No let downs. Kraemer get well soon

I’d be lying if I said that hasn’t crossed my mind but we did come off a two-week bye earlier and didn’t seem to miss a beat.

Yes, UNC’s defense sucks but how many times to we told that by the pundits and that particular D outperforms their scouting report b/c EVERYONE gets up for ND...even bad defenses. Assuming their D is as bad as we read/hear is setting yourself up for frustration, IMO.

The line won't let us down as far as effort is concerned. We could possibly call a little more vanilla game.

It’s senior day. I know it’s his second year going through senior day. But he didn’t play last year on senior day. He may want to be out on the field playing on senior day in what will most likely be his last home game at Notre Dame Stadium.

You guys are acting like he had minor knee surgery or is recovering from a soft tissue injury. My son was 9.5 years when he had an appendectomy and was ready to play sports a week later 😛

I'm not too concerned. Lugg is a hell of a backup and as others have already said UNC's line isn't their strength, their defense in general isn't very impressive.

I'd like to see a lot of 12 personnel.
