Per BGI, Durkin's move to Marlyand seems to be working in ND's favor here. They believe we have a better shot than most people think at this time and the turnover helps that.
Man...we better take more than 25 this year. Strike while the iron is hot! Please, please let Jones and McCulloch be a part of this class.
Would gladly take him as a definite over McCulloch as a maybe.#NotreDame a co-leader for a standout four-star LB https://t.co/3DSqDjcb3y via @RyanBartow (VIP) #Irish247— Tom Loy (@TomLoy247) December 13, 2015
Would the staff take Jones, Kelly, McCulloch on top of Hayes.
I know it's been talked about Jones or McCulloch being inside guys possibly but they are all listed as OLB's now and McCulloch has run sub 4.6's at 225. I'm not sure he's the guy you want in the middle with that speed. Plus, if I'm him, I'd rather stay outside for the money at the next level.
I can't wait to see how this class ends up. I like almost every prospect on the staff's board.
It would be awesome to have that speed in the middle. Schmidt and Grace were no speedsters.
Actually, Grace's speed was pretty impressive that half season before the injury or at least I thought so.
Yes it's nice to have speed at MLB but like I said, if I were an OLB with a next level skill set, I wouldn't want to give that up.
Grace was playing good football prior to injury. Once he got settled in he was the best MLB on the team.
Agree. He did have trouble at times in coverage against those "dink and dunk" teams. But covering a back out of the backfield is tough on any MLB.
Question: How do coaches accept commitments during the dead period? Say, for example, Jones wants to commit to us, but isn't sure if his spot is already taken. Can Jones break the silence to ask the coach if his commitment will be accepted or is it possible that a kid commits only to find out once the dead period is over that their spot isn't there?
You can have contact during a dead period. A dead period prohibits face to face contact either at the College or visits to the kid's high school.
Makes a hell of a lot more sense. I was under the impression it was like a cone of silence type deal.
I don't think we're in a position to be picky. Caleb is still probably more likely to go to Oklahoma. McCullough is a big question mark and while I want both of them, if Jones wants to jump in then take him with open arms.
