Should rocket up the charts next season after the glut of '15 SoCal QB's graduate.

Currently #4 Class of '16 QB in California

Everything I have read points towards him being a classic Dual-Threat QB, not a Pro-Style as listed by the services.

Very interesting fact: His Offensive Coordinator is former Irish TE Oscar McBride.

I don't know HIS mindset, just Coach McBride's! lol

From what Coach McBride told me, he has a rocket for an arm. I had heard he was more of a run first QB but he made it sound like he's more on the pass side with all the athletic ability and instinct needed to be an asset in ND's run game. Sounds a lot like MZ and BW. Plus, he's Wimbush's size right now if all reports are correct.

Hoping to see Coach McBride at the 247/Loy, 'state of the program' get together next weekend.

He has shot up Rivals board to the #7 Pro-QB. 4 star with Scout, Rivals and 247 Comp.

He got an offer from Boise while Sanford was still there but after it was reported that ND was going to hire him.

Something else of interest... Devon's older brother Sean was a freshman WR under Sanford at Boise last year so Coach Sanford knows Devon and his family.

He's going to be a 3 year starter in one of the better SoCal's public school conference. Kid can obviously play.

As expected, UCLA offered. They also offered Matt Fink in the past week so that would put ND in a good spot for one of them especially if Costello goes SC.

I doubt ND gets either. Fink wants to stay on the West Coast for school and Modster isnt very high on ND's radar at this point.

I think Modster intrigues them, but is lower on the board than a lot of the of the other qbs not offered.

I doubt they get/take either also. I read the same thing about Fink and I bet Oregon and Cal come looking for him too. I doubt he'd go to UCLA or USC with the Rosen / Costello barriers in the way but if Stanford gets Costello, he may think he can jump past Town and Darnold. (?)

Modster has some things going for him when it comes to ND. There will be a lot of good QB's that look at the QB log jam in South Bend and say pass. Modster has a coach everyday that I KNOW is in his ear to go to ND. He may be the type of kid that is left at the end and will take on the clipboard assignment until Wimbush is gone or injured for that chance to lead the team his senior year.

There is no doubt ND has others higher on their board but he may be the last man standing and I bet he has a great year... though it appears he flamed out over the weekend after a hot start that caught the eye of Wiltfong.

If Oscar McBride wasn't his OC, I probably wouldn't put much stock into it but we'll see.

Oscar McBride isn't his OC at this time. McBride is the OC at Servite.
