Not trying to call you out Im8. You are very much in the Know and bring A LOT of great info with you but this is what we always say and end up disappointed in the long run.

FWIW, he's not the only person saying that. I would say that at this point moving forward through the next 4-5 years the difference between the two will be who works harder or gets coached better. IMO, Soso is not a head and shoulders better prospect. If you rank players in Tiers, I put Jones in the same Tier as Soso.

Well we know who won't win the coaching battle.

Haha, if thinking about it that way makes you feel better more power to ya.

Fun fact, only Bama has had more players drafted in the last two years.

But let's be far how many of them were kellys recruits 4?

Let's face it we have a disconnect somewheres on getting the max out of our players.

Well considering that almost all of the guys drafted who were Weis recruits have given credit to Kelly and staff for their success.

Harrison Smith, Manti Teo, Nick Martin, Louis Nix, Jonas Gray, and Theo Riddick are all guys that I've seen publicly state that they benefited from the coaching change for the better.

I think Jones could be better.

I think he is already better.

I honestly see Jamabo as a glorified George Atkinson, he is a more natural runner (and much better receiver) but like GAIII, lacks some acceleration and is more of a straight-line runner, although he has great top end speed.

Just my opinion.

Have you watched Jones' tape?

If we miss out on both guys, then I will be disappointed. But I think anyone who watches Jones' highlights and doesn't think he is an great RB prospect is crazy.

I never said either were bad players. To me Jones is what I thought GAIII would be. Of course any one would be disappointed if we missed on both. I just personally think Soso is better. Like I said i wasn't trying to call you out. I just hope we can get the best out either of them...

I couldn't care less as long as we get one of them. Soso's the guy who looks great on paper and would be like a 98 rating on EA NCAA, but Jones runs with straight up violence and this team desperately needs that.

When in doubt, sign the one with dreads.

Lucci, it is 'couldn't care less', lol.

If you could care less, you DO care to some extent, and that is not what the phrase is trying to say ;).

I think the appeal of Soso is his size. We've been yearning for a power back, which is why Jeremy Smith was a huge name for us until he cancelled.

I prefer Jones, because I see a spitting image of Melvin Gordon. The way he runs, cuts, sees the field is almost identical. That has me excited.

I would take this anyday! Would love an offense where the RB is the feature player. I got excited for Jeremy Smith only to cringe when I read your post. With all the RB's who backed out of their visits this weekend we should send the farm to see Soso ASAP. Every coach goes!

maybe i am crazy but soso is NOT a power back...the kid is skinny( yes he is cut) but this is also why he is good at basketball...he is athletic , great vision but isn't this power back people have been talking about

You're not crazy, he's not a power back by any means. I've heard many comparisons and I somewhat get them but IMO he's 6'3 Marshall Faulk.

Who ever said Soso was a power back? The exciting thing about him is that he looks like he could easily carry 20 more pounds and still run like a deer. He oozes athleticism.

He could end up being a very good wide receiver.

Yea, people that have seen him in camps have said that he looks like he should be a WR. Which to our point, is completely opposite of this power back notion he carries. Now I don't believe he should be a WR. His best asset is his lateral quickness and exceptional feet. Would be great in a spread offense where he can use that to pick and choose his holes and break through them, not run over people.

Not a fan of Jones. He does run violent and has break away speed and above average cutting ability, but he runs off balance and gets taken down too easily.

Soso IMO is far superior.

I'll politely disagree.

I'll politely disagree as well. Most of Soso's success right now just comes from being faster than the other players on the field...he doesn't possess elite "make you miss" and does not like contact...this coming from seeing him in person, not on film. He hits the hole then heads outside to try and outrun everybody to the perimeter and most of the time is successful. It will not be that easy in college, and he will not outrun everybody in a power conference...I like the way Jones can pick his way through traffic and explode on the drop of a team. He makes better cuts and runs harder. Soso is a glider, Jones is more explosive in small space.

He's a great player...damn, wish he'd come to SB.

Not like we would use him anyways...

He can run with power, and can get up to 225-230. That's essentially what I'm getting at. I think it's more of the size aspect that we wanted. Having that 230 lb back that we've been lacking since Gray left. That being said, I'd still take Jones over him. He's smaller, but runs more furiously and seems to have that 2nd gear, and of course, his likeness to Gordon.

This. I always got that indication while watching Soso that he was little bit glide-y. Ronjo has a lot more dynamic cuts, and that translates a lot better at the next level. There are plenty of athletes in college that can get you in glider mode, but those cuts can make their respective athleticism betray them. I also like that Ronjo hits the hole like a 18 wheeler, and turn on the jets. I just never saw that next gear from Soso. He just seems to drift around at a set speed, which is fine because he's fast, but having the ability to turn on the jets makes it that much harder for defenders to pick their spot.

While I agree that R jones is in the same Tier as Soso, let's not get into the Soso bashing theme. He's a very very good back, we're just looking at another one of those same RB's at this time.
