Is this a backup plan for Prentice or a take no matter what?
I'd think he is a take no matter what

He has the ability to play either safety spot and has the range to play FS. Cornerback may be his best position with the way he breaks on the ball.
Very mature kid that cares about academics and could make the transition to ND easily. He has his head on straight and understands the value on and off the field that Notre Dame can provide him.
Will be a tough pull from the South, but definitely doable with everyone else joining his recruitment at this point.

I agree. But damn the kid can play WR also for me any day.
Why is he ranked so low? Is it due to missing his junior year?

Too easy.Gotta like guys with length from the south
Too easy.
Reportedly ND likes him at Safety even though he's never played the position. He said he's willing to try.
No bad habits I guess. He definitely has the athleticism to be a safety, and experience at corner can't hurt.
Different mentality, though. Does he like to wreck people?
I would settle for someone who just was in the right spot, chose correct angles, had closing speed, and was a sure/crisp tackler. Wrecking people would be icing on the top.

Kids are allowed to develop.

Of course they are. All kids bodies allow them to develop to some extent. What I question is whether or not he'll be able to maintain his athleticism after adding 30 lbs of muscle which is something that most kids have trouble with. You don't have to be a smartass you know. You could just have a normal discussion without trying to insult someone.
Out of curiosity why does he need to gain 30 pounds? If he is really 190 as his profile suggests then 15 pounds would be fine for a FS.
I apologize, I swear I read a profile yesterday that said he was 6-0, 170 lbs. If he is closer to 190 then he should be fine throwing on 10 lbs and maintaining his athleticism.
I saw a quote from him where he says he "likes to bring the wood."
I might be crazy, but I'm really excited about this kid and hoping ND can land him.

Just by watching the tape you can tell this kid isn't "too" skinny to develop.
“Technically speaking, he has all the tools you look for and he's really athletic and a good two-way player on both sides of the ball,” said Buchanan. “He just has that ‘it’ factor. With Chris, he's strong. I mean, very strong. He has great upper body strength and a ton of strength in his legs. He looks like he’s ready for the next level. He’s very gifted athletically and he’s smooth in his ability to cover. He’s standing around six feet and he has really long arms. That mixed with his strength gives him a major advantage over the wide receivers he's going against. He can do it all. He has an ideal body for a college defensive back.
Williamson will end up at one of his finalists: Notre Dame, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Cal and North Carolina
“The way he moves, he reminds me of a poor-man's Champ Bailey. He has that type of structure and that type of movement. Champ was an animal on offense and Chris is similar, but both are even better defensively. I know that's giving him a lot of credit, but Chris has a lot of that swag about him that Champ possessed.”
