A lot of offers now going out to some of the "lower ranked" guys...

Guess that's what happens when you lose four of five late in the season.

Honestly I'd rather be looking into taking more 5th years than take a borderline DB when we already have 5 DBs in the class. Most of these guys won't be ready for at least 2 years if they ever reach the 2 deep at all.

I kind of like this offer actually. He's got a pretty solid list of Pac 12 offers with most of them coming in late, and he's apparently really versatile.

I found this article from when Cal offered last week:
“He liked the fact that, first off, I get my work done in the books,” Meadors said. “I have a high GPA.”

Meadors’ GPA is over 3.5, and he’s taking Advanced Placement Calculus and Advanced Placement Biology this semester.

“Secondly, they really like how I’m versatile,” Meadors said. “They can use me wherever and whenever they need me.”

That’s just what San Gorgonio has done this season, as Meadors has seen time at corner, safety and quarterback. Meadors is 89-for-150 passing for 1,407 yards and 18 touchdowns, he’s rushed 122 times for 1,746 yards and another 25 scores, and he’s recorded 30 tackles, one pick, four passes defended, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery on defense.

“I haven’t played defense since Game Three, though, so I had all those in three games,”
Meadors said. “With our schedule, I really haven’t had to play defense because we have a pretty good backup safety, and good corners, so they haven’t really needed me. In the playoffs, though, I’ve been playing both ways as of late.”

This happens every year around this time. And all programs do it.

Happens every year. The bigger fish you were after are swimming else so you put offers out to re-stash the pond.

Last year: Jhonny Williams, Kolin Hill, Nile Sykes, Pete Mokwuah and Daniel Cage were all late offers. Two have already contributed on this team, and two more will contribute moving forward.

Thanks, that makes sense. These recent offers just seemed to coincide with a bad finish.

Not saying any are bad offers, I have no idea. Hopefully they choose ND and turn out to be studs.

This kid can play. His offer list is good and hes got speed.

Dont think this is an offer that bc ND is 7-4, they are going after lesser "ranked" guys. I would bet that ND would offer Meadors if they were 11-0 right now.

Meadors is the typical kid that Kelly likes. An athletic kid that can play multiple positions and either side of the ball.

Id expect a few more 2015 offers like this one to go out to athletic kids that can play multiple positions. Senior years are wrapping up and film is being sent out so offers will shortly follow.

Sidenote...

Meadors team lost last week in the playoffs to Ykili Ross' team by less than a touchdown. Meadors ran for 201 yards, threw for 71 and had 5 touchdowns. Kids a player.

Kind of funny seeing people bitch about current depth issues and this offer at the same time. ND has 3 healthy scholarship safeties coming back next year as of right now. This is a good offer.

Scout: Meadors planning visits

San Gorgonio (Calif.) athlete Nathan Meadors (6-1, 194) had a feeling his recruitment would take off a bit this fall.

But even he was surprised with how quickly things started to fall in place.

“I had early offers from Nevada, Fresno State and UC Davis,” said Meadors. “But obviously my senior year was big. I knew I’d get a couple more offers this year, but I didn’t think it would get this big.”

Cal and UCLA, two schools he grew up watching, offered and then Notre Dame offered in the last two weeks.

“The Cal and UCLA offers were big because those were two of my favorite schools growing up,” said Meadors. “Then Notre Dame offered and it really came out of the blue. I was kind of already talking to them before hand, but then they offered and it shocked me because it is so prestigious.”

Meadors said the offers standing out were UCLA, Cal, Washington, Boise State, Washington State and Notre Dame.

He visited Boise State in November and he’ll visit Washington next weekend.

“In January, I’ll visit UCLA and Notre Dame, I just need to set the dates up,” said Meadors.

Meadors had Notre Dame stop by the school on Monday morning and Washington running backs coach Keith Bhonapha was in his home on Monday night. Nevada will come later this week and Cal is set for Wednesday.

“UCLA and Notre Dame are going to come in home probably next week too,” said Meadors.

Meadors plans to take all five visits before he makes a decision, though he’s uncertain which school will get the fifth visit.

This fall, Meadors played quarterback for San Gorgonio and also in the secondary, so schools like him as an athlete.

“Some have said specifically safety, some corner, some possibly playing receiver, some are a mixture,” said Meadors. “I’d love to play a little of both at the next level. I love playing with the ball in my hands. It definitely expanded my game and I took it to the next level.”

Will visit on ND on January 23rd. Just visited Boise State, and will visit Cal, UW, and UCLA as well. UCLA is the favorite but will visit all the schools prior to a decision.

Will no longer visit UW and ND. Will OV to Oregon and UCLA then decide. UCLA is the leader here.

Needs to be after his UCLA visit so Mora can't counter us. I like his size and speed as a safety, but it looks to me like he'll choose a school that tells him he'll have the ball in his hands.

It isn't, UCLA visit is Jan 30th.

Per Rivals, he is visiting this weekend and will no longer visit Oregon. It still seems as though he's UCLA bound but its a good sign that he's still wanting to visit ND.
