GITF - who is this source? I'm not doubting your reliability, just wondering who it was. Thx

Will camp at ND this summer. Oregon is considered the other major player thus far.

I would expect Stanford and Cal to be significant players as well.

better check your facts here guys - yes he is going to camp at ND, I doubt he got an invite....and alot of this is an overbearing pop trying to hype his kid up. Kid has yet to take a varsity snap, and only had one season as QB1. Was beat out freshman year by a short kid - who ended up transferring. Goff ahead of him and getting tons of scouts and offers out there, so he's trying to ride the wake. I think we have an over zealous pop here trying to create a buzz. These highlights are of his JV team who was never challenged (and hasn't been for 4-5 years) playing in tiny marin county where any decent sophomore plays up to varsity level. I coach a neighboring high school and we had never heard of this kid till this "internet phenomenon" began...Let's see a varsity snap or two before we start ranking the kid! We will really know how he stacks up in two weeks at Calif Elite 11 competiton, where Goff (who is a real prospect!!) will be as well. There are 5-6 better (experienced) QB's in our league!

you sound a lil upset here coach...take a deep breath...no one is claiming anything other than what has been reported about having a strong arm and that he will be elite..this is not this board saying it, rather a qb coach...next time get ur facts straight and don't come here with an attitude

ps: yes he is going to camp at ND, I doubt he got an invite--sounds like an opinion not a fact

Searching the high school's website, I think CaliCoach may be a little more accurate than presumed. Looking at last year's varsity roster, Mahalak's name is not on it.

here's the link : Marin Catholic High School (Kentfield, CA) 2011 Football Roster

Per this website, Goff is also already committed to Cal for what it's worth.

EDIT: I did see Mahalak's name on last season's JV roster too. Hopefully he develops even more into a nice prospect, he does look good inthe video.

no one said anything about this kid's ability...it was just tweeted by a qbcoach he had a great arm and is going to be elite and someone noted his dad and grandfather were grads..no one was questioning anything

I didn't question his ability either (see my edit on my previous post). I was just pointing out that the insinuations made about the Cali poster's information being biased because he was "Mr. Goff" appear to be misplaced based on what information was gleaned from that website. I hope he turns into a great prospect too, chill.

"i doubt" means "i doubt" meaning i am expressing an opinion. Just some facts from a local coach. Mr. Goff -- lol not quite. Reason i mentioned any of it is we have gotten a bunch of questions in the past couple weeks and none of us in the area knew the kid or had heard of him. His QB coach may in fact say he has a strong arm, but IN MY OPINION seems a bit premature to be talking "interest" and school choices and having an advantage for a kid who does not have the pedigree yet to warrant such a discussion. IN fact many bigtime coaches are descending on Kentfield and our sleepy little conuty to have a look at Cal commit Goff - so i'm sure Morgan gets out there too. I want EVERY kid in our league to get attention and interest, but the way I heard it from someone close to the MC program is that the Dad is marketing the heck out of the kid, who will likely sit this year behind Goff and not take a varsity snap till next year. Can't blame him I suppose -- but if you google the kid you can see dad filmed everything possible. It's just a real small county and we get 1-2 D1 kid outta here every 4-5 years - so it took myself and a few other coaches by surprise when asked if we knew him. Did not play football in 8th grade, shared time as the freshman starter, then took over when that kid transferred away. These highlights are them rolling up horrid teams in our county - and the JV level at that. That's what i know - i do wish him and every other kid in our county luck - but thought i would share what i know.

No one stated or thought that his info was inacurrate...clashmore and I were just agreeing this guy seems to be a little ticked off and came across as a butthurt dad..not stating any info was incorrect.

Teams are showing interest and I trust college staffs more than a random poster that just joined.

USC and Oregon are going to him to see him throw, there has to be some talent there

And just because a kid is behind a upperclassmen D1 athlete on the depth chart does not mean he is bad

Every dad should be helping his kid get a d1 offer if that is what the kid wants to do.

Your assumption that he was a "butthurt dad" was your way of dismissing his comments as not relevant in fitting with what you wanted to believe about the prospect from the previous posts. I am trying to be objective by looking at as much of the available information as possible before blindly throwing support one way or another. He may be a great 5-star all everything when it's all said and done, but clearly it would be a rush to judgement to consider him "elite" based on what information is out there at this time to the general public. Again, I HOPE HE BECOMES ELITE AND GOES TO ND, but try to be objective in the process and check facts for yourself.

I am sure others will provide additional info as they always graciously do as it comes out.

my butt is just fine, a-thank you very much! USC and Oregon are out to see the other QB at the school Goff. USC and Oregon recruit JV kids??? Goff dad went to Cal - they had the early shot at him, but I think these other Pac 12 schools are here to see Goff, not this kid. Did I mention -- I hope this kid makes it -- i just shared what i knew as we are in the area. Facts are facts. It's like the 8th grader USC offered a few years back we all heard about and never materialized!! Internet is a powerful thing...as a coach i must know my competition - and i had never heard of the kid until few weeks ago when these articles started popping up. May he win Elite 11 and guide the Irish to glory! Maybe my post was misinterpreted. JV kid with 13 games under belt who will sit behind Cal commit Goff. That is fact.

The other prospects are two 2014 QB's in our area (Lawson, Wilkins) both dual threat types. Lason offer from AZ. Wilkins soph transfer from TX (teammate of Chance Allen, Ducks commit). Both of those guys going to Elite 11. Biggest prospect in our area is Elijah Qualls (google it!) and Goff. Besides that we all surf and hug trees out here!!! Peace and love to the touchy posters!!

Why are we automatically dismissing what this guy is saying? Because he's new? We were all new at some point. He's not just spewing some random hate...he's saying what he knows, and to me, he sounds legit.

If he's good enough, ND and/or other schools will offer him. If he's not, they won't. The newbie could be right, he could be wrong, but we won't know for a while now, will we? But I wouldn't just dismiss him right away - he's even said that he hopes he's wrong, fwiw.

And NDDomer2...I disagree that it's a dad's job to market their sons. Is that what you said about Tate Forcier's dad? There are scores of fans that have ruined their kids' lives by 'marketing' their kids and becoming overbearing in the process. If your son is good enough, all he has to do is show out on his h.s. team, and then go to camps and show out there. Colleges will find you - you don't need a marketing agent for that. Support your son, get him into the right camps, make sure your h.s. coach is in contact with college coaches, and then handle your son's recruitment from there. But there's a way to 'market' your son, and too many dads do it the wrong way. I would think that this kid's dad would be handling it the right way though, so I don't envision it being a problem.

And yes, you're going to have to shrink your avatar. Thanks...

Damn LA. All the discussion in this thread and half your post is towards my one small sentence. I believe me post says helping, not marketing. As CALICOACH as mentioned they live in a very small county with not a lot of elite football. If your kid wants to play d1, then sending a few tapes out isn't force feeding or becoming over bearing. So like you said support (which is a synonym of help) your son.

Avatar gone, until I can get home and work on it. It doesn't show on the internet at work for some reason so I am unaware of how big it appears to others. Thanks....
