I dont really comment on recruits that much, but this is the worst blow ever in ND recruiting. I can not believe this family gem is going somewhere else. I will never understand this one.

SHIT!!! I thought I was more mature about this crap, but this one is really bugging me. I didn't think we would lose him.

I respect his decision and all, but it kinda seems weird from what im reading, it almost seems like he left his heart at nd. It seems like hes just going to Ucla because of his gf his best friend, and his best friend's dad is rick who is the coach so it seems weird to me i guess

Believe me, this absolutely blows. His high school is down the street from my work and I've seen him play several times, so this sucks. Kid is a beast. I left work and everything was fine (lots of good updates on recruits today); then I get home, log on read this. Damn.

But the writing was on the wall a while back. He's a legacy, but he's not close to his dad at all; UCLA is a great school with very good academics; it's a local school where his mom and friends can watch him play; the weather; the women; his relationship with his QB, who just happens to be the UCLA head coach's son and is a great recruiter; and of course, his gf is transferring to UCLA. When Mike Frank revealed on Power Hour on Monday that his gf was transferring to UCLA, I resigned myself to the fact that he was gone. Guess that's why this doesn't bother me as much as most recruits, bc I figured he was gone anyways. Plus, 2 of my brothers and my sister graduated from UCLA, so I've always loved UCLA (but they're still a far 2nd to ND).

I'm kinda like that with this whole class actually. I just don't expect much from uncommited recruits, b/c Kelly is a whole year behind everyone else. I'm hoping for great things, whereas next year I'll be expecting great things. Good luck to AB; wish you would have been Irish but you did what you had to do...

Well said, I wish him nothing but the best....I just wish all our classes were like mine on NCAA 10, 12 5stars, 13 4stars, is that too damn much to ask?

I remeber when i said that seems like anthony and i think alike,
I may not be the only one but it feels like it, i think anthony barr would make a tremendous safety. I picture Taylor Mays, who is built like a linebacker and runs like a safety. Barr is 6-4 225 lbs and he runs like a running back i would love to see him at safety if he becomes Irish. Sean Taylor(r.i.p.) also comes to mind.

I cant get over this. I want to call him and be like how do you think this made your father and uncle feel. This hurts more than the 93 loss to BC. Maybe not but this is hard to take.

It was his decision, not his dad's or uncle's. I wish him the best, especially when he plays against U$C.

Even if Weis was retained, the 2010 class was a very important one. I know these are 18 yr old kids who have to make a 4 year decision and it doesn't matter anymore if they had an uncle or father play for ND. Getting caliber players like Barr should be a higher demand for Kelly and his staff to add to the team. I hope Kelly realizes this for next year. Anyways, best of luck to Anthony Barr.

ESPNU 150 athlete Anthony Barr chooses UCLA over Notre Dame

ESPNU 150 athlete Anthony Barr chooses UCLA over Notre Dame

Per Bill Hodge's ESPN Recruiting Trail 1/21

Four-star prospect Anthony Barr of Loyola (Los Angeles, Calif.) has given a Class of 2010 commitment to the Bruins. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound athlete also considered the Irish. ... He has been projected as a receiver/tight end or linebacker/defensive end.

Barr is the son of former Notre Dame running back Tony Brooks and the nephew of former Irish running back Reggie Brooks. Loyola's quarterback is Jerry Neuheisel, the son of Bruins' head coach Rick Neuheisel.

He told ESPN's Greg Biggins, "It was very tough to say no to Notre Dame, they have a great school and a great tradition. For me, I just felt like UCLA was the best fit for me. Location really didn't play that big of a role. I mean, sure it's nice to stay close but that was a small factor. The bottom line for me was everything just felt right at UCLA."
...

During Parshegian's era there was a California Catholic School (Bishop Amat) QB considered a lock for ND. His favorite WR teammate was the son of the Southern Cal coach and Pat Haden committed to his teammate's father to Ara's dismay.

Big loss but oh well, happens every year to some team. I am curious as to what position UCLA told him he would play. If he will be on D then this is a big loss, if he is on O this doesn't hurt me quite as bad. Still sucks all in all, just saying.

Anthony, we barely knew ya. Best of luck.

A good day is when both ND and UCLA beat USC.
