Love the optimism, but unless our LBs all of a sudden become good at coverage, Luck will eat their breakfast, lunch, dinner and 4th meal with his TEs. Also, Rees plays bad against good defenses and theirs will be the best he's faced. We'll be 'in it' the whole game but I'll predict a 10 point loss.

Hmm. Pretty sure MSU is the best defense that he's faced, and is currently ranked the second best defense...in the nation.

Stanford's defense is better than MSU's no matter what the stats say. And for the record, Stanford is giving up 16.6 points per game to MSU's 16 points per game. And that number is a bit skewed considering Stanford had a 3-OT, 56-48 win vs. USC.

USC put up 34 on them in regulation then, right? If we score 34 in regulation, I like our chances.

Lol, like I said, I love the optimism but unless we get better in coverage, I don't think going against the best QB in the country is going to be pretty. Barkley did whatever he wanted against us. Also, if I'm a wishing man, I wish for Tommy to play great against Stanford's defense. But you can wish in one hand and crap in the other. Let me know which one fills up first.

I'm a realist and I think we'll lose by 10 and I bet vegas will be right around that with me.

I definitely agree that there's no way we beat Stanford playing like we have.

Anyone else disappointed we haven't gotten many turnovers this year? Particularly from Harrison Smith, I felt we would have a good amount of interceptions this year.

Stanford is massively overrated FACT. We will be playing better by then FACT. They will over look us FACT. Luck is of the Irish not of stanford FACT. The new XL chalupa is not nearly as large in real life as it is on the commercial FACT.

Who the hell is this Stanford you all speak of? The most important game is always the next one played. I believe that's Maryland. Let's work on improving and beating them first.

1) They did not look massively overrated last year when they played us. They looked like an extremely well-coached football team that was going to line up and punch you in the mouth. It's a scary team when you have the best QB in the nation and he's not even the most dangerous element of your offense.

2) Has anybody, in the history of college football, ever overlooked Notre Dame?

3) How Lucky have our Irish been the last few years? How about the 3 goal line fumbles this year (Jonas, Denard, Crist). All three took pretty terrible bounces for ND.

Look, this is not last year. They are in fact quite overrated , sorry. They are a good team with a very good quarterback. They are NOT a top 5 team by any stretch, period. They will be overlooking us because they will be massive favorites and they will be looking towards the bowl game. I believe in the luck of the Irish, and we are due, so I have faith that it will swing back to us at the time we most need it. I am officially selling that Stanford team short right now. Certainly they are good but in no way do I think that they can't be beaten by us.

I also would much prefer to play a classic nfl passer than a Denard Robinson type. I believe this program turns the corner in this game. I believe the Pac 10 as a whole is a massive disappointment right now. ( pac 12)

And if they do beat us you will see in the BCS game how overrated they are when they get poleaxed by a much better team.

That is all

Stanford is beatable. Do not think it will happen, especially if EJ is still out, but it is a possibility.

I think Stanford is better than USF, Mich, and USC.... I agree that they are beatable, but they are also just as likely to drop 40 on ND.

Tommy Rees has small hands and reminds me of this guy from the Burger King commercials:

Couple of disagreements. How is Stanford not a top 5 team by any stretch? How are they overrated? They have played a weak schedule, sure, but they have waxed every single team on that schedule by 25 or more except for USC. They played their first top 25 team (UW) and kicked the living crap out of them...barely even needing to use their best player in the process. They have won more games in a row than any other team in the country. They played a team that kicked the crap out of us (at our home field), and beat them at their place. What else do you want them to do? If they are 'quite overrated', please tell me, name all the teams that are ranked behind them that you would rank ahead of them. If they aren't a top 5 team today, then name me all the teams that should be ahead of them.

Stanford has beaten everyone in front of them. They have done this without their best defensive player. They are still kicking everyone's arses. Even when they start out slow, they still kill people.

Now, with their injuries that have piled up recently, they are ready to be had by Oregon. Wouldn't surprise me if they lost this weekend at all. However, losing to Oregon without your top wideout, one of your top TE's (who is HUGE for this offense), your best defensive player, and some others, does not diminish what they have done this past year and a half. IMO they deserve every bit of their top 5 ranking.

And be absolutely damn sure, they will NOT overlook ND. Name one team in the past 5 years that has overlooked ND. Stanford, with a BCS bowl on the line and a chance to beat the might Irish of Notre Dame, will certainly not overlook us. They are beatable, as they start off slowly seemingly every game and their injuries are mounting, but it's not like ND is playing lights out and it's not like we're healthy either. Would be a monumental upset, no doubt.

Did he get banned for that small hand thing?

No, he was banned under a different name for ripping this site, its members, and its mods and for generally being a big *** (without being apologetic when it happened, even trying to come back under a different name the very day he was banned and talked more sh!t about the site), and tried to come back under a different name recently as if nothing happened. He was caught and banned again. I'm sure he'll be back.

Say what you will about Stanford, but you don't play college football and overlook the Irish. Especially if you go to a smart people school like Stanford. Absolute crazy talk,

Not saying the Irish can't win, but make no mistake: this will be the best football team they see all year.
