----Considering his step dad posts there and by what he has said about Michigan recruiting him and that Ron Englished finally started recruiting RJ AFTER he committed to us, his step dad was like are you serious? Get out of here. I don't see it at all.

----Some guy said he had his friend ask Blantons step dad and he said it wasn't true. So that dumb rumor is now dead. I mean come on a possible decommitment only a month after he verballed? With no games being played yet? That would be kind of wierd.

According to the SB Trib, Blanton has four interceptions and has scored two offensive touchdowns already this season, in three games. His team is ranked #2 in the state.

Local Replay’s Game of the Week - Butler vs. Ardrey Kell

Butler football coming off a loss, now has to travel to undefeated Ardrey Kell. Butler has had the best offense production through out the season but could only score 14 against West Charlotte. Jacob Charest has over 1200 yards passing on the season with 17 touchdowns. Butler also has a two headed monster on defense as they have the best safety tandem in the nation with Spencer Adams and Robert Blanton. Blanton has 4 interceptions on the year. Butler had a hard time stopping West Charlotte’s dual threat quarterback and they will have to try and stop Ardrey Kell’s dual threat quarterback this week. Ardrey Kell’s Brad Wornick is a playmaker at the quarterback position having passed for over 600 yards and rushed for 500 yards with 8 touchdowns. Will that be enough offense against Butler? My Prediction is Butler 35 - Ardrey Kell 21.

Keep in mind RJ and his father sealed the deal with Jamoris Slaughter, IIRC.

Looks like RJ has a future as a head coach / recruiting guru when he's older.

Roberts school defeated Independence in a epic battle tonight 21-20. The Butler victory gives Independence only it's second loss in 120 outings. The other loss came by way of Kyle Rudolph's heroics in the season opener.

A quick bit on Blanton from the Shrine Bowl:

Robert Blanton, cornerback, Butler — All the North Carolina corners had a tough day trying to guard South Carolina’s Green, who scorched them for 108 yards receiving and a touchdown. But Blanton has the right combination of size (6-1, 185) and speed to make a quick impact at Notre Dame, where he committed in June. He was also a pleasant young man who blended well with his Shrine Bowl teammates.

Robert Blanton was just moved from a rivals 250 prospect to a 3 star prospect on rivals!

Well that makes perfect sense doesn't it? Let's see, he started out as a four star guy in the Top 100 and then had a very good season where he was named All-State, agian. Then he has since gone to the Shrine Bowl and performed very well thus far, but yet he has somehow managed to lose a star and drop over 200 spots.
