It doesn't really "get me off" reading all the crap about one of our good recruits decommiting. Sorry. I may have a little more fun after next year with all the junk though. This is really my first year following the entire recruiting process very closely. Thanks to I.E. for enabling me to easily keep up with recruiting this year. Made reps to all those that keep the recruiting info up to date!

Thanks there Stoney!!

Maybe Omar should take a look at this before he does something rash.

Graduation rates for SEC football players according to the 2007 NCAA Division I Federal Graduation Rate Data

Black - White - Overall
Alabama: 40 - 63 - 45
Arkansas: 27 - 76 - 44
Auburn: 44 - 68 - 51
Florida: 30 - 55 - 35
Georgia: 27 - 55 - 36
Kentucky: 42 - 53 - 46
LSU: 32 - 50 - 38
Ole Miss: 47 - 82 - 58
Miss St.: 48 - 60 - 49
S.Carolina: 59 - 57 - 58
Tennessee: 35 - 38 - 38
Vanderbilt: 81 - 88 - 85

That's right folks, Florida is worst overall in the SEC. That's hard to do, I would think you would almost have to try to be that bad. IVY League of the South, ROTFLOL!

I agree it's done everywhere in recruiting. The problem I have is with the recruits not being honest about their intentions. I don't have proof that Omar didn't let the N.D. staff know of his plans to visit Fla. But with the way this info has come out I don't think he did. If you want to say Brian Smith was poached thta's fine but from what I remember he and his father told Iowa of his intentions to visit N.D. before he ever came on an official visit. So to me it would not be the same thing concerning the recruitment of Omar and Brian. And for the folks who want to believe a person commits to a University, give me a break. These kids are commiting to play for a paticular coach who happens to be at that school. Because if kids were commiting to the schools themselves then both Ty and Bob D would have had top 5-10 classes ever year. Now the schools and the ncaa can say different, but the only folks they are trying to convince is themselves.

The thing is, I don't think Omar is paying lip service to the academic part. He carries a 4.0, so he isn't some slouch that just says it to say it.

I think if he decommits we have another Little on our hands. Wants to be close to mom and wants the warm weather.

No, if he decommits I think we have another somewhat naive teenager that believed the recruiting lies and exaggerations told to him by a scumbag recruiter.

Yea it sure get me off when I see one of our best recruits decommiting...come on bro...u gotta realize these players are still kids and they change their minds...it happends. If they don't wanna be here then I don't want them here...theres almost always a 1 or 2 decommitments each class just 2 let u kno if ur new to this thing...hopefully Hunter won't be another Benn or Little orTrattou...I don't even wanna go on! Happy Holidays everybody!

trattou is (not so great-edit by stoney) and so is Little but Benn was the real miss. that kid can play some ball. i'd be shocked if trattou stays at florida. there's no way he becomes a main cog in that florida defensive line anytime soon. i hope he and his father feel like clowns realizing slimy urban sold them a bill of goods. oh, and justin, ND doesn't accept transfer, especially ones from florida!!!!!!!!!!

i get frustrated when kids decommit b/c i know what a special place Notre Dame is and what a great tradition exists there. i also wish the parents of these kids could see through the murkiness that is recruiting but i guess they get caught up in the process too.

JT made his decision, let him reap what he sowed. Let the kid be in terms of him switching his commit to UF. Until I hear it from Omar's mouth that he would rather play for some other institution, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, come to think of it, if he does change his mind, I'll still not lose any sleep over it. I suggest everyone else do the same.

he really carries a 4.0?
you would think someone that smart would know that notre dame will make sure he is well prepared for later on in life, whether it be in the NFL or a job that needs a degree

im not saying florida cannot supply him with a good education, but the statistics obviously show that notre dame will prepare him better (especially as a football player)

If he decommits, I am leaning toward the fact that he would rather attend school and play football at Florida. Just a thought.... I think that's what JT thought as well.

Whatever he decides is fine by me. As it's been said many times, you either want to play for the Irish or you don't. If you don't, then you reap the wrath of the internet posters!!

Why is Benn a miss? His bullshit "shenanigans" during recruiting process and the fact he didn't WANT to come to ND ...(forget him-edit by stoney) As far as Little and Trattou are concerned ... ditto!

i agree with you regarding his bs during the recruiting process i'm just speaking of him as a receiver. he was a guy that we could've plugged in immediately. i think tate will be good once he truly learns the position and duval reminds me a lot of stovall. if we land deion walker then it's all a moot point b/c we then have floyd and walker and true depth at receiver. all will be good then.

Omar is a smart kid!!! He will make the right choice for him for the right reasons....I hope he chooses ND but wish him the best! Omar will be the foundation of our line for the next 4 years if he comes to ND...this would be a huge blow to this recruiting class...

It will not be a huge blow to this class. OH does not make this class special all by himself. We have quality players coming in at every position right now as things stand. If he decides to go elsewhere then so be it. This is an outstanding class and will remain and outstanding class without OH.

agree stonebreaker!!! Omar has the potential to be very special...that is why I think the loss of him could be a huge blow to this class...he fills a void that has been missing for YEARS. A big strong DT that cloud dominate the middle...you have to go all the way back to 2003 to find a top 15 DT coming out of HS (Trevor Laws Pos Rank 12)...Omar could do for our defense what a great QB does for an offense...make everyone around them better!!!! Dismiss this as not a big blow if it makes you sleep better but I think if we lose Omar it is a huge blow to this class!!!

He wasn't going to walk on campus and be handed the NT position. And I doubt if he would have beat out Ian Williams or Patrick Kuntz as a starter. So if it's huge for you and your gonna lose sleep over it oh well .

Omar is great and I think we will or would've saw a lot of minutes along side Ian Williams, but he's not going to make or break this class. We will still have the best DL in this class, and we are in good position with others.

I concur. Omar would've been the biggest get for us in this class. Brandon Newman,Sean Cywnar, and Hafis Williams may all have some talent, but none of them have the offer list that Omar Hunter has.

He hasn't left yet and does not have an official visit scheduled for Florida yet. As a matter of fact neither does TJ Pridemore who started all this mess. I don't think he's going anywhere and he sure hasn't left yet so please don't act like he's gone.

Speaking of visits, he doesn't have one set up officially yet, not saying he won't though. I wouldn't say Braxtons our last hope either, he could decide before then not to make the visit.

Lets just wait and see what happens. I think he's rooming with Braxton Cave at their
all-star game, maybe he can help.

What all-star game is Omar playing in and when is it played? I did not see his name on the AA roster...maybe I overlooked it!!!
