So I googled Omar Hunter because I didn't follow recruiting during his saga. Turns out there was an Omar Hunter that played WR on the 2016 team. Mostly a scout team guy. Never even knew he existed. https://und.com/roster/omar-hunter/

One of my favorite periods of time in ND recruiting lore. Zook and Illinois HAD TO be cheating in order to land good recruits away from everyone else. Despite the lack of evidence from anyone, the Illinois AD conducts an investigation himself, the results of which were never made public as far as I can recall.

I believe Corwin Brown attended a rival HS to Martez Wilson's and nearly strangled one of Wilson's coaches during a visit, which is about as Chicago as it gets. Needless to say, that probably benefitted Illinois a bit when Wilson ended up making his final decision.

I think Arrelious Benn's mom got a job in the dorm cafeteria or something. Quite the scandal.

They tormented everyone. Ask FSU and Miami.

The majority of this drama was going from Tyrone Willingham, who golfed more than he recruited, to Charlie Weis who recruited well but whined about how the game when it didn't work in his favor. Weis flipped recruits too, he just happened to have guys like Meyer and Zook flip high profile guys away from him. As a fan base, we went from signing Dave Duerson's son as a two star recruit who should have gone to Ball State to being in the conversation with guys like Arrelious Been and Marvin Austin. So any perceived "slight" on ND was an outrage when in reality is was business as usual.

I recall as an ND fan at that time not really understanding how the landscape worked and marched to whatever tune Weis was singing on Signing Day . Credit to Charlie for getting ND back on the recruiting map, but Meyer and that UF staff were relentless and as a resullt they won championships.
