How did the biggest QB prospect since Powlus only get his thread to 7 pages??? With a page and a half related to him coming back to get his degree 4 years later? WILD....

If you check the date of the first post you'll see it starts the month Clausen started classes. It's not the original thread which was quite long.

Around that time two of the recruiting services threatened legal action for cutting and pasting Premium information. One moderator though he might be held liable individually so one night around 3 am he deleted thousands of posts some of his and lots of other people. Some had premium info but they were few of the thousands he deleted. He deleted over 500 of my posts and I've never has a recruiting service subcription to get access to Premium info. I suspect he started deleting individual posts that were improper then realized how long that would take to go thread by thread so he whacked the board with a meat clever. Most of the damage was to Recruiting and ND Football. The board was a mess.

There was a change of ownership back then (not the current owner) and the board fell into neglect.

Also there were some former mods/posters who didn't like the new owner. They migrated to another site but came back and sabotaged the site. It was pretty ugly.

P.S. Congrats Jimmy!

How does one go about sabotaging a site? You must be talking about GH. Seems like a twin site, but IE is much more active. And we have SirDishands and OMM and JPham.

Interesting to read posts from so many years ago from posters I don't recognize.

I received my first reprimand on this site when I was defending Jimmy. So glad to hear he graduated.

Just thought I would add that while I was on vacation in Jamaica, I ran into a guy that said he was on of the SandC coaches for Carolina.

I asked him, "Is Clausen a ****?".

He said, " He has been nothing nice to me but I have heard nothing but bad things about him from everyone else."

Take this for for what it is worth, just thought it was something interesting that I could share!

It is this guy.....Carolina Panthers: Adam Feit

LOL. I can seriously admit that I have alot less Notre Dame hate since becoming the Admin here, but I dont think I could ever derail myself from the green and white.

wait....one of our Admins was an MSU fan?

It seems to me that I always hear things like this. Someone you ask who talks to him says he's a nice guy, but you always hear about people calling him a ****.

It seems to be a lot like the Charlie Weis thing. I think he might just come off as arrogant. He isn't really a bad guy at all. He just rubs some people the wrong way probably.

Not a bad kid. Media just projected him in the wrong light. If he was really that bad his teammates/former teammates would have dropped a bomb by now. Wish we would have had Jimmy with this Defense.

While Jimmy was nice to me personally and is a great QB (I think he'll do very well over time in the NFL)... he was kind of a tool. I know people don't want to hear that.

I've seen him do things not very nice at parties and I've witnessed his obsessive nature in picking up girls around St Marys. I won't go into it, but he was a bit of a tool to say the least. I wish him the best, but to say he was a nice person is pushing it. I'd say 5/10 on a nice-ness scale.

Very, very drunk... but honest.

FWIW, we were talking to a couple at the ND bookstore a few years ago when their son, a football player, walked up to us. After a few minutes of conversation about football and other stufff I said; "I heard you guys are not that crazy about Jimmy Clausen." The guy gave a pregnant paused, clearly at loss for words, and eventually said; "We support Jimmy as our quarterback," and gave us a big smile.

I have a friend who was his partner in spanish. She said he was genuinely a nice guy, and no, she isn't hot.

From the outside looking in, it seems that Jimmy is robotic. He's been groomed to be the star QB so long that it seems like his socialization skills are lacking. He doesn't seem to be a natural jokester or just someone that joking around comes natural to. That doesn't mean he's a bad guy or arrogant. His facial expressions just make him look that way.

Yeah, he was a nice guy.

Sovboda who started the board. Sold the board to a Canadian named Yosef after getting threats of lawsuits from two recruiting services for allowing premium material to be posted verbatim and without attribution. He was supposed to remain as anonymous administrator for 6 months or so. I recall he did some work but not much. Svo spent most of his time on developing a private invite only board and then GH. The mods had no administrative power.

The Canadian had no interest in ND nor in football. IE was strictly an internet venture for him. One he apparently assumed would run itself or would with the input from Svo. It was a disaster. Tony was a computer guy who I believe contacted the new owner and became administrator. He sent me the details back then. Tony made his allegiance to MSU known upfront here and it wasn't a problem. He worked hard as I recall then he moved on. One of the many twists and turns of this board on the long and winding road.

BGIF thanks for the History. I for one love hearing the history behind IE...

He seemed like he could move pretty good, better than Brady Quinn. Quinn ran a 4.75 40 time at the combine.

EDIT: Just looked it up and Jimmy ran a 4.74 at his pro day.

Jimmy came from a family of linebackers. He was/is more athletic than people would give him credit for.

Well I appreciate the replies, even the snarky ones. I had said the same thing last night but in more of a question format. I wais hoping somebody could shed light on this young man's situation as I am not from Indiana and certainly don't follow high school football in that state (most of you must be from Indiana).
I just have a hard time getting excited about QB recruits because, you can throw any stat you'd like out for consumption, Clausen was a let down to me. Different recruit, different year I guess.

He was a let down if you only saw his first two seasons...

I don't see how a second round pick is a let down.

Clausen was a let down? Tough to take you seriously after that statement...

I think the reason so many people criticize Rees is because Clausen set the bar so high in 2009.

Clausen threw darts and it was fun to watch. That guy would have lit the world on fire in BKs spread.

In as much as I don't see the merits in rehashing Clausen's career, what the hey. The team's record with him as a starter was a shade over .500, I don't recall him winning any close games, against teams of equal or superior talent I recall him shrinking from the big moments more than a few times. As far as the NFL draft goes I think most people would call that a wasted pick by Carolina. His arm strength is suspect, he threw 3 tds to 9 interception last season and had a QB rating of 58.4. Don't bother talking about rookies suceeding in the NFL either because, if he was so great, he should have been able to have seen the same type of success (at least statistically) that his successor in Carolina has delivered, what Andy Dalton has delivered, the list could go on. I wish him well, why wouldn't I? First off, I don't want anybody to fail and, even more importantly, it would be a credit to Notre Dame if he ever does do well. But I don't see it, frankly.

Officially didn't visit anywhere else this weekend. Have never seen more sites confirm something, then back pedal within the hour, then have it completely not happen.

So did he go out to California or not? And, if so, then the assumption is that he just went to Cal, UCLA or USC's respective campuses but did not have contact with anybody associated with the football teams or did not go on a tour of facilities, etc?

I wonder what it all means. Why bother going all the way out there?

Clausen put up staggering numbers without a defense or running game. This argument has been beaten to death.

Please go re-watch the Purdue game from his junior year. Then proceed to punch yourself in the face for making stupid comments

Off the top of my head he beat Purdue with a few seconds left in 09, and won tough games agaisnt MSU and Washington in the same year. Now I'm all for using records as an indication of how good someone is, but this is a case where he was on HORRIBLE teams. In his career he had no run game, offensive line, and a bad defense. And in the NFL your an idiot if you blame his performance in Carolina on him last year. Did you watch a single one of their games. They were horrible and it was hardly his fault there were injuries galore on that team. Not to mention the fact the Clausen shouldn't have played becasue of a hurt foot the entire season. I'll be so bold as to say the Clausen may be the best QB we see in the next 10 years at ND.
