‘21 AL QB Riley Leonard (Duke Transfer - Notre Dame Verbal)

It’s pretty remarkable how one 38 yard pass stops his stat line from reading 4.64/yds/att. To be fair, a lot of average QB’s have one or two throws a game that get them to respectable numbers like 7-8 yds/att. Riley needs one just to get above 6.

2024 Week 4 Prediction Poll: Miami OH @ (17) Notre Dame

NIU went how I thought Purdue would go, sans the loss. And, Purdue went how I thought NIU would go. But, we’ll keep trying, lol. Another stingy defense and big rushing day for ND leads to a 42-13 win.

Eh, maybe. A running QB and a QB that can make plays downfield both do a good job of freeing up the running game. We're relying on a running QB to keep LB's and S's from keying on the RB's. A good QB can do that with play action.

‘21 AL QB Riley Leonard (Duke Transfer - Notre Dame Verbal)

Considering we lost to NIU because they couldn't scheme to pass, this sounds really dense. There are a lot of ways to you could speak this up without sounding like you are completely forgetting the last time you tried to scheme up a win through the air, you lost to a ridiculous football team.

'23 MO RB Jeremiyah Love (Notre Dame Signee)

Obviously Leonard's inability to complete downfield passes is #1 on my list of why we should go with Angeli but Love is #2. When you have a running back that is this talented, the need for a running QB moves down the list. I think it's going to far more important that we have a QB that can...

‘21 AL QB Riley Leonard (Duke Transfer - Notre Dame Verbal)

You and I have very different expectations for what thrills us from a QB. Below 6yds/att 3 of 4 games is not that. Throwing the ball 24 times for 126 yards, like he did against UVA doesn’t win football games against good teams. Or 25 for 136 against Miami. These numbers show a clear lack of...

    Purdue Postgame

356 yards of total offense isn’t a very good mark. We had 55 more yards than a Florida did yesterday and both teams had 5.6 yards/play. Also, look at recent playoff game totals. You are not beating a playoff team of years past with 350 yards of offense. We won that game on the backs of a...

‘21 AL QB Riley Leonard (Duke Transfer - Notre Dame Verbal)

Those stats are quite misleading. He was straight garbage throwing the ball in multiple games that season. ND loses those games if we’re playing anyone good on those days. I would not be thrilled with a redux of his Sophomore campaign.

I would think he earned more PT as the season progresses.

I don’t think it was health. That was cover for, we tried to protect him and still win the game. We were not good enough to do that. He needs to run for this offense to be successful. Exhibit A: first half of today’s game.

'22 NJ QB Steven Angeli (Notre Dame Signee)

We have far too much speed on the outside that isn’t being used utilized. Remember when we learned that Mitchel runs a 4.3. That seemed cool for a bit

'22 NJ QB Steven Angeli (Notre Dame Signee)

Leonard legs bring an exciting element to the offense at times. But his inability to complete passes downfield is far too limiting for the offense. Angeli would run a more balanced offense that gives us a chance to beat better teams and defenses. We have Love and Price to lean on in the run...

Freeman displays a very ballsy attitude in some situations but very unsure of himself in others. NIU was either run Leonard to victory or play someone else. He chose neither and we had one of the worst losses of recent memory. With this team, that can’t happen.

I mean, a blowout victory is convincing me Angeli needs to be QB

This is such a gift to Freeman and staff. Play Angeli and get a different version of the offense some live snaps.

This was always going to be the offense. The questions are, can Leonard stay healthy running this offense? Can it beat good defenses? I remain very skeptical on both. But I’ll take it while we get it

I think this offense would be much better if we traded a running QB for a guy that could consistently complete 3rd down throws.
