Lol, these must be college bros putting this together. Carr is a ready made NFL starter from day 1. He will be in the top 5 picks.

Yup...Last year at this time, Drew Allar, Case Klubnick, and sometimes Carson Beck were all thought by the same websites to be first round draft picks

Reality doesn't always match up once NFL scouts really start to dig into draft mode.

An accurate passer with a strong arm, ability to read defenses, and leadership skills like CJ Carr is basically Andrew Luck level of prospect.

I feel as though we are affected by homerism. Will have to see how the rest of the season goes. I hope he plays great and takes us to a championship. If he does that he probably has to go. We can pay him some serious dough I would think for one more year. Caleb Williams stayed an extra year on an average team. Without a Love Price RB we need a very good QB. It will be portal hunting time.

I actually sort of agree with this. Arch is obviously garbage. However…

Trinidad Chambliss has balled out consistently for two years now. Scouts love Dante Moore. Darian Mensah, sure, has been stat padding, but he’s another guy that scouts seem to love. And, while I believe CJ is right in that mix, if he ends up with a late first-round grade, my wonder is if that’s enough to entire him to return?

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for the Colts new GM and HC to be able to trade up and be able to select him at the end of R1 if that’s how it plays out, but will CJ and his camp let it get that far. Or, does he run it back for $5-6mil? A lot probably depends on how our season ends up.

CJ hasn't even gotten out of second gear yet this year. Its too bad the Heisman is only a regular season award because ND defense will preclude CJ from putting up gaudy numbers. I'm not sure we will give up more than 20 points in any regular season game. By the end of the season/playoffs, everyone will know who's the best QB in the country.

3rd or 4th QB taken is usually a sweet spot since, by that point, the Browns/Redskins/Jets have already grabbed the franchise QB they'll ruin in a year or 2.

I think Chambliss is much better than Jaxon Dart. So I guess that’s a first round grade. Teams freak over the age and size thing though. How Tyler Shough was drafted after Jaxon Dart is beyond me

Darian Mensah can have a 100% completion percentage. He will not sniff the first round when push comes to shove IMO. The arm is not there. Carr, Mensah and Moore are cut from a similar cloth profile wise but I think Mensah has the weakest arm of the 3. Maiva too I would rank higher.

An aside - Mensah has taken care of the ball extremely well at Miami. And I have no doubt they have coached him up better. But he was loosey goosey decision making wise at Duke. Always. And it’s not INTs he fumbles a ton. We will see when he meets this defense.

Just looking at Moore's stats from the Ok State game, I can't imagine how he could still be in the running for the top pick. Plus, doesnt he have a reputation of wilting in other big games too?

Lucky for us CJ knows the path to football immortality is multiple nattys and 35-40 college starts. Playing three full years makes him more ready for the pro game and will make him more money in the long run over coming out early and struggling.

I don’t think there’s a world in which CJ comes back, but hypothetically let’s say Catholics vs Convicts lives up to all the hype this year and he’s phenomenal in it. Then he’s great in a playoff run and they come up just short of the winning the whole thing. I wonder what kind of endorsement money the returning ND QB under that set of circumstances is looking at. I think Quinn would’ve made a boatload after 05 going into 06

I also wonder what kind of endorsements the QB who finally wins one for the Irish would be getting

I've questioned the Heisman's bias for years, and now with NIL and The Portal, I don't really pay it a lot of attention. The last four winners were all transfers. I'd love to see an ND player win it again, but I think everyone can agree I'd rather see a National Championship more by far and away.

If an ND player winning the Heisman directly or indirectly coincided with a National Championship, cool. It is an award for quarterbacks. If CJ is resting comfortably in the fourth quarter of most games because they're no longer in doubt, I'm good with that.

I think he's talking about character issues. I think that's a little bit of a reach. I get Cam had trouble at Florida and all, but the man had one of the best single seasons in CFB over the past 20-25 years, pretty hard to not give him the Heisman. JM, well, that Heisman was wrapped up when he knocked off Alabama.

Cam winning a title with the 2010 Auburn team is still under appreciated IMO. Just look at the depth chart, and then look at the average 2010s Bama team. Nick Fairley was the only other guy with significant amount of starts in the NFL, and he still was a bust. The rest lasted a few years in the league at most.

Yeah, both failed the integrity portion. Both were accepting money on the side when it was against the rules and everybody knew it, Cam was even laughing tongue in cheek about it. Manziel was partying pretty hard too, the stories about him are legendary.

The award is what it is now, it's lost some of it's luster and it's become a popularity award for the QB or occasionally RB on the "team" that year.

The Heisman use to have verbiage in their qualifications that included character and sportsmanship. They caught some flack and removed that after they gave it to Manziel.
