IDK, he's scout team and has 4 TEs in front of him it seems.

I do hope we start subbing earlier on in game rather than whole sale changes in the 4th. No reason guys who are ready (Otting, Joey O'Brien, Maden F, Styles P, Bettis/Burres, Kedren Young, Dallas Golden, etc.) need to wait until game's in hand. Sprinkle them in with the starters throughout.

IMO I don’t think of it as a linear 5. Flanagan, Flanigan and Washington kinda go together and Larsen, Premer and Fryzel go together

Premer just needs to be the best pass catching TEs to see a role. He’s not gonna ever be asked to be better than James Flanigan in the box.

The best freshman crop Marcus Freeman has recruited in South Bend might not get much playing time in 2026. That isn't necessarily a problem.

First game of the year I wouldn't expect to see many if any subs. You can live scrimmage all you want, but it's not the same as live in a game. Coaches want the players to get into a groove and build a little endurance.

He played over 20 snaps against Rice. Needs some time adjust. Hopefully he can be impactful for the second half of the season

Right now they barely target the TEs they're playing and don't throw to the slot WR much either, so I doubt there are many valuable reps for him to be had.

I think its very funny what MF said today about the mindset when playing from ahead and behind. Just so happens the slot and TEs have arguably had all their best games when we have had to open it up and play catch up. Someone gotta tell Mike were down 10 at all times and don't let him look at the scoreboard

Yep. I didn't need to see James 25th or 26th run in the 4th quarter - could have had a TE play or two.

Things can and will change. But can you imagine if Ash had to face this offense right now? Throw boundary, throw field, run into guard backs. Repeat. He’d have them in hell.
