Exactly, it's the nature of the beast. We have elite depth and talent on the defensive side of the ball. Some damn good players aren't going to see the field as much as we might expect or want. It's a GREAT problem to have.

Postgame Thoughts:
1. Micah go-to Gilbert, his connection with Carr yesterday reminded me of the Clausen-Tate connection
2. 0 points allowed in the second half for MSU and 40 total yards in the second half
3. The running game will hold this team back, have to hope that the OL will fix thier issues- Williams needs to play his game like he did in 2024 and can Nolan James be the feature RB??
4. 0 catches for our tight ends yesterday, they need to be CJ's best friend on third and short
5. Give me 11 Luke Talich type of players on defense, kid makes plays at the right time
6. Too many times yesterday ND didn't snap the ball until the 40 second game clock started to wind down
7. Not a fan of the Miami chant by the student body, it's not 11/7 yet and I wouldn't do it on that game day

I constantly have to rationalize "the stats say he is one of the best and most consistent OC's in college football" with "why are we..."

I'm going to reserve judgment until we get through BYU because there may be method to the madness.

Freeman was visibly pissed and Aneyas didn’t get much run after that.

If that TD gets reversed on replay it’s 3rd and goal from the 15. He was lucky to get back on the field.

We never saw a shot down the line but this is pretty clear he’s got that ball over the goal line. Saw a lot of State fans complaining based on the replay they showed….they only showed the 2nd effort where he fumbled it and was short

If we’re being honest, Williams is on my early list of transfer candidates. Freeman looks high and low to find ways to improve his team/roster, and Williams might get the low balled out of the building.

After yesterday's game vs MSU I would agree and if I were ND I would go to the portal if they can find an experienced RB.

Williams waited patiently for his turn and he just isn't playing the game with patience. I'd like to see Williams get more involved in the passing game; I'd like to see him turn it around....

I actually saw a poster on MSU247 call the environment “insane”. The broadcast did not give that vibe at all.

That environment was nowhere near "insane". It was pretty tame for a night game.

I've been to better night game environment's; I think this game could've been scheduled for a 3:30 kickoff, I'd like to see ND go SEC night game environment for Miami and SMU to make it hell for both teams.

I do think he’s shown some progress on this with the check downs and even last night he had just a little spot route to Gilbert

I wonder if these two things go together with using so much 12 personnel. Going heavy forces more of the defense into the box. That opens up the outside and deeper routes that Carr might prefer.

So as much as it would be nice to have more potentially impactful receivers on the field, spreading out the defense might not be what works best for Carr.

I definitely don’t have all the answers but I think there are 3 tweaks to the run game that could help.

1. Adding the jet motion action that used to be a staple in our run game. It gives the defense something to hesitate on rather than flying downhill plugging the gaps. Where did it go? I would love to see Faison or Graham get a jet sweep every so often to keep the defense honest.
2. Run more pistol. I think the data is there for this one from what I’ve seen.
3. Go under center. Are they saving this for later? Why practice it and admit Carr needs it for the next level and not run it? Watching Love and Price run from under center in the NFL is a thing of beauty. Hate we never got that while they were here.

Yes, I think so. The ref said during the game the penalty would be applied after the review. I interpreted that as either way, penalty is getting applied.

I think people are underrating the game he had. He was very good.

Nolan establishing himself as RB1 and Micah’s coming out party are long term very good signs.

Two plays kept MSU around, a NFL level pass by their QB (that even shocked MSU fans) and Brayden Robinson not knowing where the sticks were on 4th. Thats it. This was a very solid performance imo.

Agreed on Nolan… many of his gains were through small creases. He does have great vision and kinda slithers through the line. I believe it was Ontario that posted he reminded him of Blake Corum. I think that’s an excellent comp. 🎯

We finished the game with 36 RB runs to 24 pass attempts and I just don't know why that's the offense. Probably could create more explosive runs by going throw-throw-throw-RUN into a light box and maybe you make one guy miss.
