I like a laughing fun Chris Ash. That second half was something.

The run game came alive. Nolan looks better than Williams to me.

Luke is a ball player

Traore is another dude.

The play calling to me was not the best.

We won by 3 scores but I don’t think it’s an eye opening win.

One thing worth monitoring is that Kedren Young isn’t getting any run. I’d love to see us use him the way MSU used Edwards. Let him get downhill and cook.

The D played tough the whole 2H, but when they turned it up a little later it was truly something to see. Like 7 or whatever plays in a row where they had the pick or a sack or were so far up the Sparty Qb's ass he was running for his life.

ugly ugly win, gotta get better before BYU & Miami but still not over look Purdue. CJ is the man wish he could’ve gotten a passing TD for his heisman hopes. Team has to start games more disciplined & run game has got to get better.

Still the megaphone stays at home & makes up for being upset Joey Logano won in nascar 🤮

- This defense will win most games for us
- I want to see Denbrock let CJ actually rip it. Let him get a rhythm, carve teams up - he's capable of it. Let him show off a bit.
- Run game seems to have gotten a footing at the end there grinding MSU down
- NJJ is clearly the most reliable guy to keep us ahead of the chains and in good position, and that's the most important thing right now.

James and Walton need to get the bulk of the touches going forward. If you want explosive home run plays, Walton is your home run hitter. Defense 99% of the time, is top 3 in the country. I feel like the passing game will be there when we need it down the road. 3-0….onward and upward.

A quarter of the way through now: the offensive line is flat not good enough and the run game is so bad it’s bleeding into making the passing game worse because there’s no balance. If it doesn’t markably improve they’re not going to win a title. Plenty of time left but the alarm bells have to be going off.

Can’t believe how bad Williams looks, he looked like he was going to be a big time player during the 24 playoff run

I turned it to the stupid freshwater bowl and immediately cannot believe how much louder it is,… for all the ND stadium regulars,… is it NBC or does our environment just lag behind that much?
It’s partly the broadcast but also compare ND student section sizes to Major Stare School student sections and, well, I don’t think it will ever be the loudest stadium in college football.

It gets plenty loud in ND stadium for big games - but tonight with the weather and the mid opponent and the sort of boring game, it was never going to be a great environment.

But NBC absolutely dulls the noise

James is RB1.

Gilbert with a breakout game.

Carr is extremely good at football.

Our defense is elite. We've made about 2 or 3 errors in 12 quarters, that's it. 23 points over 3 full games, less than 170 ypg given up. A joy to watch.

Didn't cover the spread, but I'll take a down game being a 17 point win over a Pat Fitzgerald led team.

I love Aneyas as a dude, but as a RB1 and a captain at Notre Dame? No thank you

CJ is the man

Micah is the man

The defense are the men

Its been a hard fought day for a lot of good teams... we need to be better

1. The defense is good enough that you can kinda play like shit in other areas and still be very likely to win because it's unlikely that the opponent will get to 21+... biggest issues they seem to have through a quarter of the season seem to be occasional coverage busts and handling misdirection, but overall it's hard to find a better group in all of college football.

2. I feel good about my hot takes post-Wisconsin that Gilbert looked the part despite not really getting many targets / opportunities. We clearly have two dudes you can trust now to be playmakers, but they gotta figure out why the slot WR is just a total non factor in the offense right now.

3. Nolan James has got to be the guy. They also gotta figure out scheme and the run blocking. It's a whole unit failure right now.
Spot on. I agree w/ all three points. The OL is just as culpable IMO.
