They also beat us by 1 after a missed extra point and an extremely bad missed holding call on a 4th and goal situation.

I'm pretty skeptical on aTm. Maybe they beat Bama/UGA in the SECCG and go on a run in the playoffs and I'll admit I was wrong, but we'll see.

Good points here, but I think most cfb fans would say the best team in the SEC is either aggies or Georgia. And ND's best win is against a good (not great) USC team with 2 losses, possibly 3 losses after this weekend.

Favorable schedule for them yes, but no one is impressed with ND thumping Navy, Purdue, and Boise either. That's a two way street.

He was good last year however, he had tow 1st rounders that made the line look better then good. We don't have to first rounders this year.

To this point, I saw small holes that should have gone for at least a few more yards than the minimal gain they got.

IDK if the line failed to give enough of those small holes or the backs consistently failed to maximize the chances they had

I agree it was on both the line and the backs. The second half changes definitely made things better.

Not an excuse, but it’s going to take a couple of games for the line to truly adjust to the RB’s. I have a hunch Rudolph wasn’t very cordial at the half.

Rudolph I believe is still fine. That line is really shuffled. Playing against their own familiar defense slows things artificially down, no matter how good the defense is. Five-man play looks different when its "familiar". Now along comes the first real difference and in-game chaos/confusion. Even Knapp is going to be a little slow to react. The tackles more so. Prescod (unfortunately) lots so. In comes Sully --> CALM POWER.

Rudolph's error was understandable. He and others saw a high ceiling talent (Prescod) making big waves, and went with it with high hopes. But Coach Joe watched and adjusted. Professionally.

Our OL is deep as hell. I hope and pray Jagusah can be playing by Miami because he could make a world of difference.

I thought they started poorly, but asserted themselves more as the game went along.

New starters up and down the line, and it seems like they found something with Absher at RG. Take the next few weeks, get everyone on the same page, and I think we'll see a much better showing the latter half of the season.

"They" already HAD something with Sully at RG. Coach Joe just got understandably fooled by a late camp performance that wowed everybody, and replaced him with a shiny new "hopeful AA." At this moment that shine is false, but Sully is Solid Cord Wood, so we're fine at RG. Should Prescod regain the shine, then we'll see. I'd stick with Sully.

If you had an OLine where your FIFTH best piece was a player of Abshur's quality, then you're in Joe Moore territory. Yesterday, Sully was our 2nd or 3rd best lineman.

By the way, I view WISCONSIN's OLine as surprisingly good and aggressively strong. They'll probably produce several more wins than expected (if that QB doesn't get KO'd.)

Yeah, if he even does come back, I wouldn't expect much at this point. He's not going to be in game shape, and there's no telling what his strength will be like after missing all that lifting. I haven't really kept up on his situation, but I'd be surprised if he comes back. I hope that's not the case for his sake.

So is it tow first rounders or to first rounders? Or might it actually be two first rounders. I’ll take door number three but those aren't Rudolph guys, they are Seiders guys. Geesh.

On rewatch, I am more perplexed than ever that Absher didn't just easily win the job outright in camp. Like what was he doing in practice that made it a competition/debate with other guys for that spot? He had a number of impact plays in the second half where he was road grading and I didn't see any mistakes in pass protection. Amateur opinion but hard to ask for more than he gave the team last night.

Weakest spots on the team (besides Prescod) were the two tackles but you expect growing pains there. Live reps and experience matters.

Maybe the elbow injury was more impactful than anyone let on? Funny that he was so good in the run game, his inability to road grade at his size was always the biggest knock on him last year. Hope they just let him keep rolling

The strip sack by their guy coming around Black was a healthy reminder that five stars have first games too. He'll be fine. Lambert, too.

Yeah, for me, the ship has set sail. It's unfortunate but part of life. As a fan, I'm not in any way expecting to see him play again and am not going to be counting on him. Just hope he has good quality of life going forward with his health.
