I too was hopeful he might be able to play OT. Because without him at OT, they signed 2 OT’s in the last 2 cycles. And one of those guys, Jagusah, some think is better at OG as well.

Losing Paige and not adding another OT prospect could be costly. We’ll have to see.

Not to derail his thread but the parts about Peyton bowen are great as well. He hopped on a call AFTER the Oregon selection and was saying he wanted to come back to ND. Wtf?

Did it say what his wingspan was?

Zach Martin at the Combine measured 6'4 1/4 but had a 77.5" wingspan and was a great college LT. I know he was the quintessential overachiever at the position but IIRC he came out of high school with less fanfare than Absher.

Do they not measure these guys at once they are on campus? Reading a tape measure isn't that hard.

A quick google says that's the same as Zach Martin's at the combine.

So I wouldn't bet on it but there's always a chance he could play OT if he's quick enough

Absolutely, he may never be a tackle but it won't be because of his size.

Length is good, but the ability to Dance and Settle-PUNCH off the dance is even better in college.
THAT is what ZMart was the best in the nation at (and still is.) That means you stay face-up to the
opponent square and don't have to hold outside the body. (watch the Cowboy films.)

No one knows yet what we've got, but we shouldn't make too many shallow assumptions about who
can be a tackle or not based on some simple measurements. I'm guessing that Coach Harry can turn
several of these guys into really good college tackles.

Sully was terrific and definitely earned his stripes to be the starter going forward. I still would to see more pre-snap motion on offense to give different looks to the opposition, but a lackluster 1st Half was met by a dominant 2nd half.

It helped in the 2nd half, the 1st Half the offense was stagnant and pretty much RB dive plays without any creativity

But they were still motioning. They motion the RB or TE on almost every play, both halves.

Standing ovation for the Big Fella. I was listening to Ian Book talking to Knapp in his show. Knapp said: the whole game gets quicker at guard, and you have to just instantly respond in the midst of it. He said that this felt quite different to him, but that he was getting use to it (admitting that he wasn't there yet.)

I believe that Sully IS "There." I believe that Prescod is not (playing against our own guys is a comfortable "context" which artificially slows this down.) Knapp (evolving)+Craig settling back down+Abshur "Being there" is what, I believe gelled the inner part of our Line. The Tackles still have a way to go, but with the whole "Inside" working, they'll be (and were) OK.

I've been way more a fan of Sully than most. (He's one of my Steve Elmer/Tommy Kraemer-type guys --- hard work, smart, big power.) I really hope he keeps the job.
