Yeah, I couldn’t have foreseen how set we would be at the position. It’s sad Junior’s brother is going to be a Trojan, but I wouldn’t change a thing about our D-Line class. Instead, I’ll blame UCLA for not closing on Tuihalamaka the Younger.

DE will be fine this year especially if the emergence of Dunham who i think could be our best pass rusher by end of year. i would still take him for another year for depth.

And I’m shocked about that. I thought he always gave them quality snaps when healthy.

This move tells me that they probably don’t like what’s behind Dunham. But, hey, he can provide ST snaps and probably came back on the cheap.

Almost every player recently that the perception is we “let” them go is someone who got in their feelings during the season about PT and wanted to leave. We didn’t force any of them to leave.

What surprised me is that Burnham left even though he had a better chance to start at ND than Indiana. Indiana brought in 2 other transfer Defensive Ends who people seem to think will start over Burnham. For the record, I don't think he would've started at ND, but you never know. Bryce didn't exactly light the world on fire last year.

Pendleton started at Tennessee (mixed reports), Spindler started and got a mini camp invite, Coogan started and was a 6th RD pick. Burnham will now be a backup at IU.

ND believes they have guys that are equal or greater talent than that and cannot make everyone happy. All would have been welcomed back in a role that does not guarantee starting. It is what it is.

Feel like this is bigger for special teams than it is in the DL. Pretty sure I read he had been working for McKinsey until this came about.

I wouldn't even say they don't like what's behind Dunham. But let's just think about it:
  • Traore and Young Starters
  • Keeley and Dunham as the next 2 in
  • Loghan Thomas and then Ewetade as pass rushers
We could use another run first/strong side DE like Junior. Also, one or two injuries away from being a bit scared. Given our goals, depth is huge

At the end of the day, we’re talking about the 4th/5th DE. I just don’t think you ask him back if you like what you’ve seen over the summer.

Having a healthy Loghan Thomas in year 3 as a 3rd string DE is just stupid depth.
