It’s pretty wild just how much more efficient Monds has been in his Freshman / 1/4 Sophomore year than Grubbs as a junior / senior. Way less TO prone and much higher completion %.

Vero likely had a better supporting cast, but they play in the same class in FL. combined with his physical gifts u can see why he was the #1 QB in country

Yep, I didn’t have a clue either. When you and I agreed on how we would rank the 4 QBs. We were Discussing 17,18 year old juniors to a 15 year old.
I'm gonna be honest, I literally didn't know until yesterday that the highlights we were watching were freshman highlights. That is crazy amounts of upside on display.

I too think i watched the wrong film. Only highlights i could find were on youtube and like 15 minutes. If that was sophomore, i am even more convinced of his ceiling being higher than all (and teddy)

I think being selective with the amount of QB offers has been an advantage for ND. Find a few guys you like, offer them, take the first guy in.

Getting around to his HS Freshman film. IDC what they rate him, no one's every seen freshman film like this. He shows everything as a 15 year old. Size wise he's the biggest dude out there. Arm strength is obvious from throw #1. His footwork and ability to keep his shoulders square while moving is already on point. He's going through reads, throwing over the middle, and his athleticism speaks for himself. Nothing breaks down for him, he's patient, aware, and him keeping his composure and shoulders square is something no one does at that age.

This is a 5* regardless of what they say and if his senior film is probably going to prove it.

When you combine size / athleticism / arm talent / accuracy / mechanics i think he’d be the most talented ND QB in quite some time (knock on wood). He has no obvious weaknesses outside of reps.

I think is targeting the other services who have him as a 3 star
Yeah, 247’s 88 rating is egregious but if he performs like he can in the fall then they’ll have no choice but to bump him again.

Personally, I think he can be the best ND QB prospect since Clausen (yes ahead of Carr). People’s only hesitation with him is the lack of snaps. A shame we’re so rankings focused that people cant appreciate the obvious elite talent.

Jackson Vaughn’s 3 star on On3 is also really bad. I get Monds didn’t play last year but nothing about Vaughn’s film changed when he decided to reclassify.
I feel like some people automatically downgrade guys who reclassify up due to the general history of failure without accounting for differences in age and importance of experience between positions. I think Vaughn will actually be a normal 18 y/o freshman with the reclass, so the film should be viewed as if he was a year up from the stated grade, but not as if he will be lacking necessary experience.

Both are fringe 5* talents imo. May not be elite height, but freaky traits are there that warrant elite rank.

Monds' arm talent, let alone for a 16 yr old jumps out.

Vaughn has that twitch off the snap that makes it seem like he jumped offside every play, coupled with the ability to bend around the edge.

I think Monds and Vaughn are special talents. However, I am perfectly fine with the recruiting services keeping all reclassified kids low initially. Especially when they have their "senior" season to play. Taking a wait and see approach is perfectly fine. Not uncommon for a 3 star prospect to blow up his senior year and become a 5 star/high 4 star.

I agree with allen. I do not mind the low rankings on them now because they will have a full senior season that can directly be compared to their "new" senior peers. If they both have elite seasons like we are expecting and the recruiting services still punish them for being reclassified prospects, then I will be upset with them... That is still likely to happen to some extent. Monds was the #1 QB of the '28 class and Vaughn was a top 3 DL and easily in 5* territory when in the '28 class.

Also why I can't get mad with Teddy's drop. His reclassification means one less year of film. Is what it is.

Those clips from Driskell really ratchet up my excitement for Monds. I was afraid he was another athletic QB with a big arm but likely lacking touch or the ability to read defenses. In those clips he's layering balls at all levels and making incredible throws. If he can keep his footwork clean while pressured and continue to develop, he's a guaranteed top 5 QB in the class. A 5-tool prospect to steal from baseball.

If Monds or Vaughn were going to Michigan they would be ranked 5 stars already. The sites love to kiss Michigans ass

How many of the guys ranked above Jarrard were 4 year starters - necessary to have more film than him?

Part of the reason he transferred his final year was to face better competition. Another year of that film would be helpful. Quality v quantity of film is probably a mix of what you want to see. Case by case

Jarrard needed to be a 4 year starter playing 2 in one of the highest classification of HS football in the country to get a 4th star is maybe being a bit generous in defense of the standards of recruiting services

They dropped him solely because of JT Daniels syndrome, nothing more.
