ChatGPT thinks stadium capacity would drop to 70k if ND switched to seats from benches. No idea how accurate that is. I am not sure if any stadiums in the FBS use individual chairs instead of benches outside of select areas/club seats/boxes.

I don't know how accurate it is, but it's probably not far off. They did expand the seats in the lower bowl recently by making them somewhat wider, but you're still pretty damn sandwitched if you're a man that is 6'+. You're still basically elbow to elbow, and I assume switching to seats would include arm rests that would continue to reduce capacity. Honestly, as mentioned previously a lot of stadiums are struggling to sell all tickets, and our long standing sellout record ended years ago so I'd be fine with us losing a bit of seating to make the experience more enjoyable.

As a 6'0" 300 lb fatty, never was I more embarrassed than when I attended the 2009 UCONN game and the rail thin 5'8" dude next to me was livid that my fat ass did not fit in my numbered bench area. He told me I would have to leave if he couldn't fit in his space. Luckily I guess maybe 1 person didn't show up so there was enough room for all of us. But I won't go to an ND home game again until I am sub 200lbs, so probably never again lol.

I'm basically in the same boat. Used to have the box seats, but the family gave up the season tickets a few years ago. When you're looking for 2 seats on a 3rd party site, search for tickets with 3 seats seats open together. The 3rd seat often doesn't get sold, there's your extra spot. It's worked for me a number of times. I find the upper bowl seats to be more spacious as well, but I prefer the lower bowl. Even though there isn't a bad seat in that stadium, if I wanted nosebleed seats I'd stay at home.

Talked to someone who was involved in the Crossroads project. I guess $550 mil was pretty much the exact amount they ended spending altogether. Since the retired usher I talked to was around 80 years old, there's unfortunately a good chance he made not be exactly here right now, so thats what I'm gonna chalk it up as.

I remember sitting at the opener against Kansas back in '99. Late August and the thermometer was hanging around 90. Saying it was hot and sticky is an understatement.

North Dakota State opened at Kansas State in 2013. I think the thermometer was pushing 100. I would not recommend going to Kansas in August. Their cops were wandering the tailgate lots looking for victims of the heat lol
