It’s still funny to point out and except for bama this isn’t really true-Oklahoma for example dropped significantly (which gave us room for the top 10 finish).
Great. Color me devastated that we didn't secure the 9 spot.

Does the CFP come out w/ a final poll or do they leave it up to the AP since their main charge was to select the CFP bracket?

ND overperformed their “talent” level in 2024 and 2025, where we had a team that was 9-10 in team talent but finished power rated top 3 each year. Pretty damn impressive and bodes well for the future.
IU is the exception. If you look across the sport, team talent still mattered a ton. These sites are going to get better at properly grading transfers impact as well over time.

Haven’t been on X since the final AP poll but I’d bet a pile of money that BYU fans are absolutely raging that ND finished ahead of them despite choosing to opt out of the processed food bowl.

ND should be ahead of Bama and over rated TT. Blow outs should matter. ND is 4 points from the #1 or 2 seed. Two teams will enter next season with a ten game win streak or better. ND and Indiana and Indiana’s last loss was an ass whipping to ND. ND tied with Ohio State for best odds to win it all next year. That while losing the two best RBs in CFB! What does that say about the committee embarrassed for those assholes. ND being screwed over is the impetus for expanding playoff to 16 or 24 teams. Hope they leave it at 12.

I'm a bit worried that the narrative will be so much of a thing next year that it will become a distraction or cause tightness in the team. The good news is that Freeman is generally pretty adept at pressing the right buttons for his teams.

It's a good point, but I think he'll insulate them from what the outside world is saying, which will mostly be "join a conference" and "you're quitters because you didn't go to the Pop Tarts Bowl."
