I'm done with college football until the playoff system is fixed. This level of corruption to protect Alabama is one of the most insane things I've witnessed. What is the fucking point of playing a whole season, if at the very end, a bunch of suits just say "thanks, but sorry, you're out, because we said so." I'm done.

ND needs to file a lawsuit against whomever they can. The amount of the money that cost the university should not go unnoticed. ND should not stand for being bullied. Take a stand.
The target should be the ACC. They need us more than we need them. 2-3 games vs each of the P4. We have a contract? So what. Attorney's on this site can discuss.
Their lobbying against us would be enough to win the case IMO. Damages? You betwe've been damaged.
And the ACC refs should be off the table forever.

Anyone know when we'll hear about our consolation prize? Williams and Nolan James in the backfield for the bowl game?

There's two power conferences (SEC and B1G).

SEC has the CFP advantage between the two because the network that has their TV rights also has the CFP TV rights.

The ACC and Big 12 are the next tier down. Again, the ACC will always have the CFP advantage because of their deal with ESPN.

Then there's another tier down to the Group of 5.

We need to get out of our shitty deal with the ACC.

We have 4 choices:

1) Total independence - increasingly difficult to be able to schedule a good enough schedule.

2) ACC-esque deal with the SEC or B1G.

3) ACC-esque deal with the SEC AND B1G (5 guaranteed games against each plus Navy and Stanford).

4) Full membership in the SEC or B1G.
Honestly we need out of the ACC, so I say all the above.
Start cozying up to ESPN because they are the power broker. The main thing is the ACC needs to die and we need to stop propping them up.

Did we get left out because we weren't vocal enough? We just didn't drive dumbass clicks on x enough like the idiotic miami fans did? It's been a slow motion train wreck for weeks now. The signs were there. I just really didn't want to believe it.

I'm fully sold that this was a message to ND that they better join a conference. I'll refrain from suggesting what they do because it's waaaayyy beyond my pay grade but this was a pre-planned outcome that can't be substantiated.

It wasn’t the final nail in the coffin, but in hindsight, this was all because of the Alabama/ND flip last week after their “gritty” win over Auburn.

Clearly the committee was trying to protect Alabama.

The committee decided two things:

1) It wasnt going to leave a bubble Alabama resume out of the playoff two years in a row.

2) It wasn't going to leave the ACC out of the playoff due to ACC incompetence and Miami inconsistency.

Instead it left out a team that was playing as well as anyone in the country and was, according to Vegas, a top 5 team.

They probably need to remove all automatic qualifiers.

Also, with each passing year, it makes less and less sense for ND to remain an independent.

It's almost certainly versus BYU in the Pop Tarts Bowl. 3:30 in Orlando on December 27.

No, it's just that when push came to shove they were more comfortable shafting is than shafting am entire league.

I would always say with my buddies that ND needed to go undefeated to make the (4) team playoff. I was sort of right about that (minus the ACC title loss during the COVID year).

My new talking point to the guys was that it would be very hard for ND to make the new format with (2) losses.

I really thought I was going to be wrong on that with this years team, but now I feel like it may stay correct for the foreseeable future.

If a team with the resume of Alabama is going to stay ahead of us with our resume.
3rd in both in sagarin an FPI then it’s not going to be easier in the future.

Hopefully we move to (16) soon, because going 11-1 or 12-0 every season is not a cake walk even with our newfound talent levels as we found out this year with likely the most talented ND roster we had in 30+ years.

I don’t even know who to root for. I can’t stomach IU winning a football championship in my lifetime before ND. Maybe Oregon? Or at this point another OSU win doesn’t really matter I guess.

But Miami and the entire SEC need to get fucked

The most upsetting thing to me besides the obvious factors like we actually could have won this entire thing with the team we have, we will never again see J Love in a ND uniform, will always wonder what would have happened, unknown recruiting fallout, etc, etc, is that most people will just accept it, the media will stop talking about it, and everyone will simply move on and enjoy the playoffs.

I think ND tried to maintain its dignity, but this is not a dignified enterprise.

OSU or UGA. I'm glad for IU but I don't want more cooks in the kitchen.

You guys are vastly overestimating the degree of coordination between the business people and the on-air talent, and between ESPN and the Committee.

You seem to lack basic understanding with how production meetings work. If you don't think the on-air talent has talking points from the business people, I don't know what to tell you.

They own and operate the SEC and ACC networks. They don't care one bit about anyone else. There's a reason they will downplay the BiG as being top loaded (i.e., sure they have a few great teams but then the quality falls off) but refuse to acknowledge that the the SEC is a logjam of good but not great teams.

The ACC is on life support and it's more valuable to ESPN to have the games they have rights to over the next several seasons be seen as having some level of meaning as a "P4" conference than it is for ND to make the playoffs this season.

Tell it’s wrong to think if we’re in big 10 we would be in cfp?
Absolutely. Join the BIg 10 and schedule Navy and Indiana State/Ball State for out of conference. Sail in.

I want to be independent and control the schedule. We just can’t front load the schedule anymore.

I am claiming the natty for ND. Our last title was now 2025. We were runners up in 2024 and champs in 2025.

Just don’t watch.

It’s futile and it will hurt you more than it hurts them but if this is a business decision then Irish fans need to be done with college football for the year.

You're really missing the fact that mega conferences are going to politik and push their way to controlling the sport.

Greedy evil corporations and leagues win again.

I cannot even begin to explain how the way our team is treated by people for not being in a conference, often times spewing the same hateful shit that kept ND out of one to begin with, make me ethically and morally against joining any conference. The conferences are evil and at this point only serve to worsen the sport. Joining one would make me sick and would be surrendering to said evil.

And these playoffs are terrible. If this is the crop you pick to play, you clearly don't care about playing the best 12. Not even 12 deserving. They intentionally rigged a system in their favor and tried to sell it as a way to find the true champ.
