Just checked the USC sites. It's funny...early yesterday morning, they said he had an offer and that he would commit today or this weekend, and that he was so excited by the USC offer that he would graduate early exclusively for USC. By about noon, they were saying he did not have an official offer, that they wanted to make sure that he could qualify to graduate early (there are quite a few players that they will accept ONLY if they graduate early). And the last report, last night, said that Hawkins will not commit this weekend after all, and if he did commit anywhere it would be to Stanford. Quite a day!

My take: USC will take him IF he graduates early. Hawkins at first was pumped by the offer (as was his USC fan dad), but then they realized that USC is not showing the full love that Stanford and other programs are showing him by making him graduate early. So now they're having second thoughts. USC tried this with another player last year, and that player said forget you (I believe it was Jabari Ruffin - not 1000% sure). USC then backtracked and told him he could come whenever he wanted, and then he committed to USC after all. Could see a similar case play out with Hawkins, even if he does declare Stanford his leader this weekend...

I think you're thinking of Scott Starr. His situation was similar to Chris Hawkins'

Video taken today said that 3 are standing out. ND, USC, and Stanford.

Weird how he mentions Stanford's academics but not Notre Dame's.

ESPN Insider

On The Trail Blog - ESPN

Cornerback Chris Hawkins was set to commit to the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday, but those plans were upended with a call from USC recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron Friday morning.

Went to USCs Junior Day last month and was upset to leave without an offer (reminds me of Bosch when he visited..damn).

Says the whole process will get started all over again now with the new offer.

Met with the new secondary coach for USC and was fired up about meeting him and really liked him.

so many corners and lineman this year...makes my head spin...

Anyway what's the competition Ranch Cucamonga plays? Isn't Rancho Cucamonga way out in the burbs?

Its where Uncle Elroy lives, so it can't be all that bad.

Why would he do that?

It doesn't really matter though, he was never serious about ND anyway.

Just telling you what i read. Tee was a big influence in the Fresno area. When Tee was committed last year he was recruiting all these kids.

Trying to make it rain in our parade GB lol?

Just being real. I remember when everyone was pissing in the wind when Michigan had its Junior Day and we were all crying. Now look at us. Just bringing us back to reality lol.

ND needs to get players who want to be there, not just because a kid like Tee was there. I think that was the problem with Greenberry and it proved to be true with this kid. That's why it's good to get players like Elmer and Bivin who like ND for ND.

Where did you read this? Rancho Cucamonga and Fresno are about 4 hours apart.

GB didnt you say like a week ago you thought ND would get Tre Bell, Rashad Kinlaw, and Priest Willis. We now lead and most likely will get Bell and Kinlaw. Priest Willis will play out the process but as of right now is a LSU lean. Let's hope your right GB.

I think we get 2 of them atleast. If we don't get a third, we can have someone show up late like Standifer last year or over Camp.
