One article speculated that Miami could simply be making room for Reggie Wayne and thus be more attractive to Payton

First of all... it's Peyton, not Payton (hehe).

Not so fast on the contract. This only leaves Miami $16M under the cap. They needed to do this just to sign Peyton, they still dont have enough cash to sign both Peyton and Wayne.

After reviewing Marshall’s contract, which originally was a 5-year, $47.3 million deal struck with the Dolphins in April 2010, the Bears will owe him a little more than half of that for three seasons. Marshall stands to earn $28.1 million over the next three seasons, and he will carry a cap figure of $9.5 million for this season, which ranks fourth on the roster, just $100,000 behind his familiar quarterback Jay Cutler.

Trading him frees up $5.8 million in cap space, leaving Miami $16 million under the cap

This is a desperation move... thank you Miami

Another wr signing

Bucs agreed to terms with Vincent Jackson a five-year, $55 million contract, including $26 million guaranteed.

Jackson will earn $26 million over the first two years and $36 million over the first three, topping Santonio Holmes' $24 million guaranteed from last year. The Bucs jumped in feet-first, causing V-Jax's other suitors to fall by the wayside. Jackson will immediately slot in as the No. 1 receiver in Tampa, sending Mike Williams to No. 2 and Arrelious Benn to a situational role. Expect Jackson's fantasy stock to decline with a quarterback downgrade and coach Greg Schiano's traditionally run-heavy offensive attack.

The Bears should be arrested for completely violating Miami on this.

I think this also speaks to the Bears feelings on Michael Floyd's chances of getting picked before their pick. If for some reason he is still there, I still hope that they grab him.

We are still in it for Mario Williams too.

It's a good day to be a Bear.

I've never been a fan of ESPN's reporting, but the rumor central is suggesting the Bears may be out with Williams because of cost.

Before Marshall and Campbell, the Bears had $33M of cap room. If they are out with Mario, I have a hard time believing its because of the money.

If the Bears draft Floyd and get a good offensive lineman they might have a legit offense.

That's what I thought too, but I guess he wants an astronomical amount. Time will tell...

I dont care if you have Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald as your receivers. If you dont have an o-line they are useless. Correct if Im wrong but wasn't the Bears o-line terrible last year? O-line is a bigger need than receivers for the Bears

They actually improved over the season. Right before Cutler and Forte got hurt, the whole team was firing on all cylinders.

We do need a competent center though.

Bears sign one of the better special teamers in the league, Blake Costanzo.

He was a nice player for the 49er's last year and his experience will be great to have on special teams. Not a huge signing, but an important one none the less.

So the Bears have decided to go with domestic violence and assualt instead of drug dealers?

Brandon Marshall in Chicago, hmmmmmm you think he will be arrested before or after the season begins?

Sorry for being negative but he's a punk.

Bears WR Brandon Marshall was involved in another incident that could lead to an NFL review. More shortly at ESPN: The Worldwide Leader In Sports.

Might be quicker than you thought. Wow

i like the deal as a bears fan (hopefully the off field issues stop)

i still say if a stud WR is available at 19 (floyd, although i think he'll be gone by then now) they take him

if not this move softens the need for WR and allows them to take the best player available at their positions of need: CB, LB, OL, DT (not in any particular order)
