Hawkins Honored

“Notre Dame, Stanford, Cal and it’s a tie between Nebraska and Oklahoma and Michigan is in there too,” Hawkins said of his current leaders."

“They’re going to see how smart I am on the field, how fast I am - because I have great speed – and how fast I get out of my pedal,” said Hawkins, who has been clocked as low as 4.47 in the 40-yard dash."

"“On the third day of school, I’ll have a little assembly in the gym,” he said. “I’m going to pick my school and from the hats on the table. If I get a Notre Dame offer, that hat will definitely be on the table.”

so many corners and lineman this year...makes my head spin...

Anyway what's the competition Ranch Cucamonga plays? Isn't Rancho Cucamonga way out in the burbs?

it's ok. Not the worst, but not great either. They play some really elite teams like Corona Centennial, and solid teams like Redlands East Valley and Upland but then some teams from schools I haven't even heard of.

ND, California, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Stanford.

Like TT said, offer will be official by end of the week.

Really high on us and said we will get one of his official visits. Dad really wanted him to get a ND offer.

Like his film...would be a nice addition to the secondary....like how he looks up for the ball instead of waiting to see it land in the receivers hands.....gray

Video: Denard Robinson's Forgettable GameDay Throwing Performance | Kegs 'n Eggs Blog

Denard Robinson was the feature of a GameDay segment, and he was asked to lob footballs from long range in the hoop instead of basketballs. Granted, this looked far from easy, but this is also pretty much the most Denard Robinson throwing showcase ever. Arm Punts (and shots, and even Arm Layups) have no offseason.

If there was a Notre Dame defender in front of the basketball hoop, however, I imagine he probably would have sank at least half of these attempts.

Son of a bitch.

If only we hadn't taken Willingham they'd still be in the Stone Age for football.

Will choose a school Saturday and it will most likely be between UCLA, Cal, and Stanford. Stanford is the definite favorite right now so expect him to announce for the Cardinal. Will still take trips to Michigan, Notre Dame and other midwest schools

Thanks for the info rob.

Another "I'm going to go ahead and get engaged, b/c this girl might be a keeper and I might not be able to do better, but I'm still keeping my options open and I'm going to sleep around" recruitment. This kid is from my buddy's hometown and he was excited to go see Hawkins play this year. I think I'll tell him to pass now...

Per Sapp may not decide now. UM and ND will get looks regardless. If he does decide it will be Stanford IMO.

If USC ever offers though, game over.

Maybe. Chris Hawkins' dad is over on our board and did state that Stanford is the favorite and they are big fans of USC, but if SC takes too long to offer (which I think is very likely) Chris won't go there. Chris wants to go to a school that makes him a priority.

edit: Well supposedly he's driving down to USC today and expects an offer so you may be right after all

Just checked the USC sites. It's funny...early yesterday morning, they said he had an offer and that he would commit today or this weekend, and that he was so excited by the USC offer that he would graduate early exclusively for USC. By about noon, they were saying he did not have an official offer, that they wanted to make sure that he could qualify to graduate early (there are quite a few players that they will accept ONLY if they graduate early). And the last report, last night, said that Hawkins will not commit this weekend after all, and if he did commit anywhere it would be to Stanford. Quite a day!

My take: USC will take him IF he graduates early. Hawkins at first was pumped by the offer (as was his USC fan dad), but then they realized that USC is not showing the full love that Stanford and other programs are showing him by making him graduate early. So now they're having second thoughts. USC tried this with another player last year, and that player said forget you (I believe it was Jabari Ruffin - not 1000% sure). USC then backtracked and told him he could come whenever he wanted, and then he committed to USC after all. Could see a similar case play out with Hawkins, even if he does declare Stanford his leader this weekend...
