I'm surprised there isn't a Photoshop with his head replacing Dog's. Gotta leave Dog's hair though, brah

You could replace Beth's face with Payton.

Of course the head coach had NO idea that this was going on. And CW andBB had no idea what was going on.
Until the proper authorities have the guts to put a stop to this crap it will not stop. As they say in the *** "If you're not cheaten' you're not tryen'"

Actually, they said Payton was aware although not a participant.

Roman Harper is the dirtest player in the NFL and this helps prove it. The price for this is going to be steep.

Williams should have to sit atleast this year out. Give the Rams the opt to void his contract. The saints should lose the first round pick. Thats they only way to punish these teams and make them feel it.

All players who took money from this should be suspended for 4 games at least, Saints should be fined $5 million, lose their 2nd round pick this year and their first and second rounder next year, and Gregg Williams should be banned from the NFL. This is completely unacceptable. Peyton Manning got his neck hurt playing against the Redskins when Williams was their defensive coordinator. Williams injured 3 Hall of Fame QBs, most likely intentionally. It's despicable.

Did they end anyone's career? Did any player on a opposing
team miss more than a game? Just asking?

Brett Favre and Kurt Warner both were injured against the Saints.

Brett Favre's career ended long before any game against the Saints. He was just too dang stubborn to admit it.

Just sayin'

I think the Saints first pick this year is 59th.

I'm in the minority here, but I'm not suprised. I honestly thought this happened in every nfl locker room. I think bountys like this will go on forever.

Why would this go on in every locker room? These guys are already getting paid and don't typically hate the opposing players. My question is this, what 3 or 4 things are most likely to come of this? I think the following:
1) Williams suspended for minimum of 1 year.
2) Saints lose first round pick
3) Saints fined 1 million $.
4) Players involved fined $100K each or suspended 4 games each.

Goodell is going to drop the hammer on this.

From all the tweets I've seen from former players and current players no one seems surprised. They say this has been going on for years, decades its just finally been made public.

No doubt Goodell will be hard on this though.

I don't think you're in the minority here. This doesn't surprise me at all.

You're missing the point by a country mile. It's not about the money - it's the about sport of it, the competition of it. These guys make millions of dollars but yet they gamble against each other on flights all the time, because of the sport of it. There is an old saying that if teammates are fighting, it's usually over one of 2 things: a woman, or a gambling debt. And yet these guys make millions of dollars.

As for not hating the opponent - maybe not in basketball, but in football, you are trying to rip your opponents' heads off play after play after play. These guys are juiced up and popping amphetamines to get them even more hyped. Hell yeah they want to injure their opponents.

People are absolutely right when they say this has been going on forever, and it's most definitely been going on other locker rooms besides the Saints. Not saying it's right...just saying that it's out there...

Brett Favre was arguably the best QB in the league in '09. That statement makes no sense.

While these actions are disgusting, it doesn't surprise me at all. Even Favre says there are no hard feelings because he knows it's all part of the game. The Saints are just the unlucky team to be "discovered" first.

And yet after most games, players from each team take a knee and pray together. I understand that it goes on, I'm not naive. These guys don't stay on the same team as they used to, they don't develop the hate as they may have in generations past. I do understand that there are steroid or amphetamine driven rages. This issue may bring more light to it than has ever been shown in the past. The reaction by some of the players speaks to its prevelance, I see that, I just can't quite wrap my head around it.

Vikings fan here. I have to agree Brett was fantastic the entire 09 season. That statement like previously said doesn't make much sense.

I also agree with what people on here have said. I am not at all surprised this "bounty program" is going on. They are modern day gladiators, and that is why we LOVE the sport. The violent nature is the key factor.

All that said I still think the VIKINGS got hosed by the refs in the 09 championship bout, because the NFL is rigged. They wanted the feel good story, now the feel good story is tainted.

Ha ha...hypocrisy at its finest.

I don't think it's so much hypocrisy as it is that you're a different human being on the field and off the field. On the field these guys are warriors. Off of it they're working professionals.

Seriously though, this stuff has gone on forever. Think I recall hearing it mentioned in one of my favorite NFL film videos about George Atkinson and Jack Tatum.

2 minute mark. They talk about keeping score for injuries.

I don't care if everyone does it. It's wrong. Football isn't about taking a guy's head off (even figuratively speaking). You don't go out there trying to end someone's career which is what you see with all these James Harrison type players. It's even more wrong to pay someone extra money, even when you make millions, to do that.

Football is a beautiful game and when played correctly (looking at you form tackling), it's undeniable addictive. When I see guys trying for the ultimate highlight reel hit, it ticks me off.

I'm all for the big hit which can be done with proper technique. This isn't war, it's football.

It is pretty much gambling that in it self is illegal for the players to do. Yes other players have said this has gone on for awhile but they didn't get paid.
