He's being recruited partially by Scott Booker right? If I remember correctly he really likes the connection they've made? This is going to be a battle here. I think it'll come down to PSU, OSU, and ND. I always worry regardless about Meyer, but Bradley's pedigree with Gronkowski and Hernandez has to intrigue Breneman.

Then again, look at the talent that has come through ND at TE lately. Breneman has to know that he'll be featured just like all of them have. Hope he comes here.

You mean O'Brien instead of Bradley.

Oh yeah, good call thanks. PSU is definitely the team that worries me here, just as much as OSU. If you were a prospective TE and saw how Gronkowski and Hernandez dominated, wouldn't you want to play in an offense ran by the same person? Now, I think that Breneman also recognizes the level of play that TEs at ND have had. This one will really tell us if Booker is all that people have said he is. I'm excited to see how he recruits in his first full recruiting season. I think Kelly found himself a stud.

Agreed. But PSU still has the Sandusky scandal still and more info could possible come out. Also remember the Sandusky Trial still hasnt happened yet.

That's a good point. It's going to be negative publicity for awhile. But would that affect a kid like Breneman, who has said that he's been a lifelong PSU fan? Still, I like our chances. Early returns from Scott Booker are rave reviews.

I’m sorry I don’t get how kids could fall for the Gronk comparison. Gronk has arguably one of the best QB’s to every play the game throwing to him, and PSU’s QB is who??????????

As a Pats fan who was not a big fan of O'Brien, even I have to admit that he gets a lot of credit for the emergence of Gronk and Hernandez. Obviously Brady helps a lot, but the Pats did not have one productive TE during Brady's tenure until Gronk/Hernandez/O'Brien. And it wasn't for lack of effort; they drafted and signed many TEs looking for one or two that would work (Dan Graham, Ben Watson, Garret Mills, David Thomas, Chris Baker, etc.). O'Brien's tweaks to the Weis/McDaniels offense was definitely partially responsible for the TE production at NE.

Having said all of that, TEs have also been very successful at ND, including under Coach Kelly.

I doubt it will affect his decision. I believe he said it wouldn't, although I can't remember where I read that. It's a new regime there so I think something really unforeseen would have to come out to have a big effect on recruiting.

Edit: come to think of it, that may have been Anzalone who said that. Sorry; mods, this may be one to delete.

I love hearing this stuff. Sounds like the kid is a leader too, and a perfect example of a RKG. Kelly has to just love this kid.

A top QB prospect, Christian Hackenberg, just committed to Penn State per 247.
Christian Hackenberg

247 has Hackenberg ranked as the 68th overall prospect and the #4 Pro QB prospect.

Granted we just got done getting a more highly rated QB prospect in Gunner, but I thought one of the best things we had going for us in our pursuit of Breneman was that Penn State didn't have any top notch QB prospects. I think that this commitment definitely tips the scale a little more to PSU.

Faith is important to Breneman, though. You can tell from this story, which has already been posted somewhere in the thread:

Adam Breneman, Andrew Ford two of a kind - ESPN

I like our chances with him if we play that angle up. If your faith is important to you there's no better place to be than ND, and not just for Catholics. I'd love for Breneman to visit and spend some time with Manti. He'd have to be impressed.

Five-star tight end Adam Breneman (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) is up to 33 offers with a year until signing day.

He hopes to trim that list sometime in the coming days.

“I’m going to sit down pretty soon with my family and talk about when to make a decision … and discuss what steps to take forward,” Breneman said. “Maybe I’ll narrow it down to three or five teams, but I don’t know yet.”

espn insider also mentions him addressing a committment to psu rumor...but i can't read it

Farrell and the 247 guys keep hinting that another "HUGE" prospect will commit to PSU sooner rather than later.

Lemming made some kind of comments that he is hearing the name Penn State in a positive way by a much greater number of recruits then what he would've anticipated given the scandal.

Negative fallout from the scandal effecting recruiting was about our only hope in getting this kid IMO. Lots of kid "love" a school growing up, but from all things that I've read over the past four months, this kid literally bleeds blue and white.

Man, I really hope that it's not him.

I feel that if he is the HUGE prospect that will commit sooner rather than later then that contradicts what he just said in his quote.

I don't think it is him. I think he is a take all visits to the schools he wants to see before he makes his decision.

...I hope it's not him but confident it's not.

New staffs always create a new found optimism in a program that generally leads to them landing some better recruits. It is what the new staff does with this momentum in their first season that determines future recruiting success. Just look at UCLA. That program has been going nowhere for years and they bring in Mora and immediately land some stud recruits. Now if they continue to suck this year then the momentum will quickly subside but if they win then they could reap the rewards like the damn skunkbears are doing this year.

And for the record, I definitely think it is Breneman.

Exactly. When it comes down to it, I don't know if any of these recruits will end up not choosing PSU because of the scandal. Granted, we still don't know this because Breneman could simply just love PSU because he's always loved PSU. Or because it's a new coaching staff, whatever. But from what it looks like, the scandal will not have the impact many of us thought it would.

This definitely doesn't look good. Penn State boards were saying that it's being reported that Breneman is done with visits and will be deciding next week.

PSU lock IMO

Just found this on twitter as well from the Penn State Rivals Reporter

Damn. Yeah he's gone. Who else is out there at TE this year besides Heuerman?
