He's pretty quick for being a OL. But man, 225 for 18? I did 225x20 last night as the base to my pyramid. Maybe he was nervous, or his muscles were cold. I dunno. Thats just not very good.

A bit off topic but James Hanna just ran a 4.42! Only a few TE's have ran and 3 have recorded 4.53, 4.48 and 4.42! Impressive.

Taylor Dever Vt jump: 28 inches
Broad Jump: 8-3

Also had one of the best 3-cone drills of any OL with a 7.49

And with that, Taylor Dever is done with Combine workouts.....his results are posted

Any chance we can get Golson, Diaco, and Carlisle over to the combine???? There are some that would really like to know their height and weight.

I'm sure even still, there would be those who would dispute and argue the measurements.

Dever looked ackward in a number of the drills they did. Not nearly as ackward as some others though.
What round is he projected to go in?

Dever's 225 for 18reps is terrible. I am 5'7 and 145lbs and I got 225 for 1 set of 8 yesterday.

With the way some of you are bench pressing, did you play college football anywhere? QUOTE]

Yea...but I knew probably 10 guys through out college that could do 15 That weren't football players...they worked hard at it...but still

pretty common to see WRs doing 10 by sophmore year, about 1 in 3 could do 15 or so by senior year...

I don't know how you do 18, and play DI offensive lineman...

he did alot of other things with feet and position then...had to.

I think that'll hurt him...

I played SS in college and did 24 reps of 225. Not saying Taylor is weak, but 18 isn't very good.

I am not sure about the Golson and Diaco part, but I inquired about Carlisle because kids tend to grow after a year in a college program and the stat sheet on his thread was from High School. It is pretty clear that you found that offensive as this is your second post regarding it, so let it suffice to say I have nothing against big guys, little guys, as long as they are comfortable in their skin. So...get over it or don't.

I didn't take offense to anything. I was mocking the posts/threads from a couple weeks back regarding how tall Golson is and more recently how tall the defensive coordinator for ND is. I think you asked about Carlisle last night...and I merely added his name to the mix. If you recall, the Golson posts were quite funny, and some of the Diaco ones were as well. One of the many beauties of IE is the ability of the members to take something and run with it. The collective imagination and wit of the posters is usually quite impressive.

And as an aside-- I care very little how tall Golson or Carlisle are; it's not like any of us can do anything to change it anyway. I definitely care even less how tall one of the coaches is-- it matters not at this point in his life and certainly not our lives.

You guys put too much emphasis on BP. It seems most people here focus on BP by far the most when they go to the gym considering how seemingly everyone can BP 225 >10Xs.

I'd much prefer an OL with a solid base and strong core (read great lower body strength) and great balance to someone who can bench 225 20+Xs. An OL's job is keep their man in front of them or to drive them back or to a side. A strong foundation coupled with great balance will enable that far more than a great BP.

Think about it. Those with poor balance will whiff on blocks and get knocked out of a play more often regardless of their upper body strength. Lower body strength is what allow sOL to drive the defender back. You don't drive people back with your arms; you do it with your legs.

I agree that bench press isn't the most important thing when evaluating an OL, but I don't think it's something that should be completely ignored either.

I can't speak for the others but my squat and power clean are both up to par with my bench. Hopefully it is better for the few guys that struggled as OL on the bench test.

I wouldn't argue with that...as a general statement.

But its hard to get your head around the fact that the guy did less than half of what the leader did....had he done 25, most people would have shrugged, and moved on...but there were WRs that beat him (I think)...

There are quarterbacks that will beat him.

He didnt look very good out there, but he wasnt horrible. The only one I thought was horrible was Michael Brewster. He looked horrible in the position drills.
