I'm thinking either academics or its a situation like Aziz Shittu last year where we told him if he visits he will get a offer. I'm leaning towards academics.

Is it possible Kelly is not offering his because of his size? He's only 6' 1" and Kelly likes tall linebackers. It wouldn't be the first time.

tall mlb is way over rated...i'll give him the benefit of the doubt if he'd be an olb, but since he's a true mlb that wouldn't be cool with me. kid is a tackling machine.

Bill King asked Steve Wiltfong on his radio program about the possibility of both Jaylon Smith and Kimbrough being possible recruiting battles between pOSU and ND.

Wilftong responded by saying that he thought if pOSU offered that Kimbrough would end up there. Also thinks that Louisville and Wisconsin are major players here. Even though Bill King asked about it being a possible pOSU and ND battle, Wiltfong never even mentioned ND and thus I would assume he believes there is no interest from ND.

To quote Deontay Greenberry, "Patience. I repeat, patience".

Just reading through this thread and came across this gem. I threw up in my mouth a little.

Seriously, I hope whatever is keeping this kid from getting an offer gets rectified.

I imagine that it's because as good as he is he doesn't fit the 3-4.

He's a 4-3 MLB who's despite his talent is too small for what ND is looking for I believe because otherwise he would've been offered a long time ago.

time these coaches start to measure the kids' hearts instead of their height and weight.

You're right he is an entire inch shorter than Te'o.

Keep in mind that Warren Central has a tendency to have student athletes that can't make it past admissions here. Not trying to call out Tim here because I really don't know, but I believe Sheldon was the first guy in a while we were able to accept from Warren Central.

This is correct

How can you say it was a mistake when he has yet to play in college?

this kid might start from day one in ann arbor...he's good enough to play for us. played for a great program in coach kelly's old stomping cincy grounds. if we would have offered he would have been ours.

also, did you see any of the under armour game?? kid was a beast.

You're not implying that Kelly wouldn't have taken Te'o, right?

Refer to point one...

No question in my mind the staff would have recruited Te'o back in the day just because of his sheer athletic ability.

Just making the point that he isn't one of "Kelly's recruits" that's why he doesn't meet the "ideal" demensions for a ILB they are looking for.

Te'o is the exception for any programs rule

If the guy is good then yeah I will say it was a mistake. I would rather see him play in college first. HS all star game doesn't mean anything.

It's a huge measuring stick considering you are playing against the best HS players in the country

He's not that good. If he starts from day 1, that is a bad sign for their defense.

Don't you think Kelly would have been really familiar with him, given how hard he went after Jarrett Grace. He came to ND his Jr year several times, never got an offer.

agree to disagree...kid's got a football players mind on top of ability. problem for us was he was listed as OLB when he'll prolly play in the middle in ann arbor, which is a more natural fit.

ND is trying to get him to visit for the junior day on March 24. Elston talks to the coaches at Warren regularly.

If they want him to visit, throwing an offer his way might go a long way.

Maybe they are trying to get him to show up without offering so they can evaluate him up close and personal. See him at field level, in front of them. Does he pass the eye test type of a thing?

i can't imagine it is too time consuming for them to head by his school to see if he passes the eye test.
