What is he referring to about stepping out of bounds and the way Neal finishes? Like literally he stepped out of bounds on a play? If that is what he is talking about it is the lamest excuse for not taking a player.

LMAO.

He proverbially stepped out of bounds man.

Not literally.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Urban is complaining that Neal literally steps out of bounds rather than take a hit; nothing figurative or "proverbial." Of course, it's complete B.S. because they've been recruiting him hard for a couple months and didn't just suddenly look at his film. Things didn't go right with Neal, so Urban is fabricating the excuse that they dropped him.

It's a pretty stupid criticism. Some of the best receivers of the last 10-20 years were guys who didn't try to take a beating. We're talking about a kid who's 5'9", not 6'3".

OSU's loss if they don't want him. For my part I'll be ecstatic if we get him.

He probably called him soft because he didn't commit to the douche during the in-home after he forced him to try and commit. He wants finishers (Any kid who bows down to him in an in-home).

Lane Kiffin wishes Robert Woods had learned to step out of bounds.....at least once. Either that, or that PAC 12 officials would allow you to pre-book your timeouts before the play

So whats really the question then? If Davonte gets as much yardage as possible and then steps out because he is close to the sideline means he is not tough? Come one...... I would look at it like he is a intelligent football player. Don't risk getting hurt, make the play, and be ready to go make another play.

So if we do get him, does he play WR or CB? I originally would have said WR for sure, but with the loss of Darby and not getting Poole, as well as his performance at the UA game, I'm really not sure.

What did he do in the UA game? I've wondered about this this myself, but people on this board have convinced me that Neal is so explosive that it would be a waste to use him on D. Plus, Kelly said something in his presser yesterday about how the staff thinks they have guys already in the program that they can move to CB if necessary. He didn't say who though. Matthias Farley? Eilar Hardy, if he's healthy?

Hell call him up and tell him he can play both sides.

I think I remember a quote from Davonte where he said the ND coaches had already presented playing time on both sides as a possibility.

Considering we are in need of both WR's and CB's, Davonte gives us the extra bonus and flexibilitly of playing both positions with excellence.

I like it when players play on both sides...

It gives cbs the ability to think like a wr.

And, it gives wrs the ability to think like a cb.

This is a deadly combo imo opinion... all I know is, we need davonte.

Nothing really. Luke Neal still says they have had no contact with OSU since last week when Urban visited and it is absolutely false that he tried to commit.

Full story coming later from Sapp.

Anything in there about Meyer throwing Neal under the bus?

He said in a speech, Neal's second step was out of bounds. Inferring he was afraid of contact.

I read somewhere that Luke Neal asked all coaches to give them an entire week off from contacts to let them sort everything out and will begin contact again with the coaches next week.

He actually was talking about a "WR," and not necessarily Neal.

According to what I read.

I'm sure this was already posted but in case it wasn't;

ESPN said:
Recruiting update: Neal recently bumped out Miami for Arizona, and Oklahoma is also a new team in the mix. Ohio State is doing well, and Neal is a big fan of Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer. Notre Dame is also very high on his list, and he'll make his decision the week after signing day.

Full report up from Sapp. Still have the official to Arizona set on the 10th but it could be replaced with OU. If it is then they will unofficially visit Zona.

Davonte's cousin was struck by a car early this week and was in critical condition and the ND staff called to offer well wishes which really impressed Luke as we were the only school to do so.

They are having nightly discussions about the teams in consideration and there hasn't been one that has separated itself from the pack yet.

I really hope it strikes home with the Neals and Davonte comes to a University that actually cares about individuals....
