IMO, Russell is the slot guy in this class, unless we get Neal.

I think Brown's rating is based on his size and injury. He is 15 lbs. too small for the evaluators, just like Golson was an inch or two short.

Gentlemen,

Look at Mike Floyd this year. Prototypical outside the numbers, jump ball receiver with great hands. Kelly lined him up outside the numbers and in the slot to create mismatches. I can all but guarantee Brown will be doing the same thing. Give him the ball on a screen and let him take off. Let him beat a CB 1 on 1 when safety help is rolled over Daniels or Greenberry. Or just line him up in the slot and catch a swing pass. Better yet, send him down the seam on a LB that runs a 4.7.

We can see him anywhere we want...and I'll bet we're all gonna be partially right. Brown has that kind of versatility and athleticism.

Wow. These are the key words with this guys. Finally watched the tape and he has the size and speed to be effective on the outside but is also really nimble in the middle of the field. He'll be a matchup problem no matter where he plays. What an exciting prospect.

Things I want Chris to nail down (although he said he has already done one):

  • Weight
  • Route Running

He's golden otherwise.

His game reminds me of AJ Green. Tall, skinny, fast, and great ball skills.

His profile lists him at 6'2, 185. Greenberry's lists him at 6'2, 180. Why are people so worried about his weight, but not Deontay's?

Good point. I think Deontay needs a bit of weight too which he may have already gained, but I think people are more concerned with Chris perhaps due to his injured past.

Right. Plus, Deontay dominated on the national circuit, whereas Chris will not get to showcase his talents until he get to the Bend.

I was never suggesting that Chris can't be great, just that his ranking was likely based on the fact that he (like Deontay) is/was skinny.

No one's a finished product coming out of high school. I think everyone's still excited about his potential despite the questions about his weight.

I agree. Just think its funny that he responded through his twitter feed.

The kid is going to be a baller, no doubt.

I dont have any "questions" about his weight, but I do think it is why he didn't get a 4th star. I think Golson is going to be a beast, and I think his height is why he wasn't ranked higher.

Living here in SC, I have followed the SC press coverage on some of the more elite prospects in the state. There has been a good bit of talk about how he was being under valued by many. I never saw him play in HS, but from the talking heads in the State that do travel around to see the games, he soulnds like someone we will be very happy with over the next few years. Did not hear one real negative about his game.

Kelly on Chris Brown: “One of those young men where if you’re in the draft, you think you got a steal in the third round."

Brown and Greenberry remind me of those two UNC recievers who ate us up a few years ago.

Kelly just called him the steal of the draft. I agree. Lots of potential.
