Hi All,

If we were able to organize an event for IE members to attend a 2012 ND home game and tailgate prior to the game, which game would you most likely be able to attend?

We'll never get all of us, so we have to try what works best for the most people.

Purdue Sept. 8th
Michigan Sept. 28th
Miami (at Soldier Field in Chicago) Oct 6th
Stanford Oct. 13th
BYU Oct. 20th
Pitt Nov. 3rd
Wake Forest Nov. 17th

I live in Valpo, so it really doesn't make a difference to me which home game since I'm only an hr away.

I'll be at all of them, so its hard for me to choose, but I think Purdue or BYU would be the best bet economically speaking and the most fun

I'm going to 3 games next year....OU, Mia-jami and Navy..

And I have yet to see at game at Notre Dame stadium....The sadness continues.

I've been there, just never when a game is being played.

I vote Chicago because I'm definately going

I'm in school in Chicago so any weekend pretty much works for me. However a high profile game, such as Michigan, will be harder to get a tailgating pass for. Just a thought.

In all honesty, there's alot us who have never been to a home game at nd so if we were to schedule something it should be at nd. It would ve the best way to do it to me.

I don't like the Chicago game. I only get out to ND once a year, and when I go I want to spend the weekend on campus. I love Chicago, but its definitely not the same as going to South Bend.

If you guys that live in Chicagoland and the surrounding area want to meet up before and/or after the Miami game, you definitely should. But for out-of-towners, going to that game is the equivalent of going to a road game - it takes away the whole pilgrimage aspect of it.

I agree.

I prefer the Miami game because it will be easier for us out of towners....no drive into South Bend.

True, if someone hasn't been to South Bend before, a home game would be best.

And I totally agree with that....but it's easier for me to fly into Chicago than getting to South Bend.

When it comes to a "group" event, we might have to bite the bullet and go to Chi town.

And I'm DYING to go to ND to a game.

I haven't...I would love for some of you guys to give me the full game day treatment in South Bend and point out where I need to go and what to do.

We should have it in South Bend so anyone who hasn't seen the campus can see it

If we have the tailgate at Notre Dame we can give you the full game day treatment

I'm not telling anyone how to vote, but I'm just going to lobby for my position a little bit here:

I don't think it should be the Miami game because going to campus is a huge part of why I go out to that part of the country, and I assume that is true for some others, too.

My issue with the Michigan game is that it is going to be a nearly impossible ticket, so that will probably limit the number of people that can go. If tickets were easier I'd say that weekend would be a no-brainer.

My thought on Purdue - and this could be a faulty assumption on my part - is that since it is an in-state team, Purdue fans will drive demand above where it would typically would be for that caliber opponent. That drives up the cost.

Stanford has been a good team and that would normally likewise drive demand, but they don't travel well and I don't think they are going to be nearly as good this coming season as they have been. So that ticket might be a bit softer than it would have been this season.

Wake Forrest game sucks, because they aren't an interesting team and there isn't a ton of history to fall back on. But it will probably be the easiest ticket. Could be a contender.

Between Pitt, BYU and Stanford, I really don't care. I voted for BYU because I think that is kind of a cool game, IMO. But I hope we can decide between one of those three or Wake.

I'll just tell the wife that I have to go to 4 games this upcoming season. LOL

Great points. To be honest...I could care less as long as I'm in Notre Dame Stadium.

The tickets would be a problem. If we are worried about tickets then the scUM game is pretty much not an option. If we want tickets then BYU or Pitt would be our best option. The purdue wont be easy because the first home game is always tough to get tickets

I don't think Michigan is a fair game to pick, especially if its a night game(possibility?).

I don't think Purdue would be too difficult a ticket, but is in state so you never know.

Pitt does not travel well. That would be a good game.

Obviously for me it doesn't matter, just looking out for the greater good of the board :)

Haha. Bob, I know this is your poll, so I don't mean this the wrong way, but: I don't think the poll is binding! Lets try to get a consensus in the thread if we can and if we are actually serious about trying to get together.

I know I'd really like to do it, because when I go out there I don't know anybody and my favorite part of going to football games is the tailgating!

I agree 100%. We just need a consensus.

Really torn here. On one hand, it's got to be at ND. It's been too long since my last tirp.. On the other hand, Chi-town will likely mean more members (more tix, easy to fly into, etc.) and The U (outside of scUM and U$C) is historically one of our most hated rivals. Good combo of ease and tradition.

My Vote - DO BOTH :)
If I had to pick one, Chi-Town just because logistically SB would be difficult.
