Loved everything about the trip. He should know within the next couple days on whether the Spanish class is a go, and if it is he will sign with Notre Dame. Said he thought about cancelling his Boise State OV because he is so sure he will be Irish, but his mom's flight is non refundable.

This kids tape is pretty damn impressive.. The staff sees a nice list of intangibles that can be coached up. I'll be happy if he announces Irish.

So with Standifer looking like a lock, can somebody run down who ND actually, even it's just opinion based on available information without any solid comments from the recruits in question, has a 50% or greater opportunity to land?

He could always just go take a few potato tours or something. No need to OV Boise State.

DB wise the finalist are....

Poole
Wright
Darby

... If one of them becomes Irish, this is a very very good DB class

Realistically, I know you all hate that point of view, but I would pencil Wright as the only one with a chance for ND, and even that is sketchy after this twitter crap.

Wright is not coming to ND. Forget the twitter thing. He got expelled from school. No way ND takes him now. We have refused kids for way less than that.

He said only one with a "chance".

I tend to agree. Doesn't mean we'll take him, but if we do land another highly ranked prospect...

Yuri has a "chance"

Nothing is impossible. We'll see. I tend to not omit too many opinions on recruiting, as it's not worth much anyways. I just have a hard time seeing us going after him after everything that happened.

A chance? I think we are out on Darby and Poole. And Wright took himself out.

And on Boise, Boise is a great place to go. Very nice, great facility and great town. The problem is that there is Boise and some small towns right next too it (Nampa, Eagle, Meridian) and nothing else. I mean nothing else. Great place, but kind of isolated. Great place to go to school and live though.

Yikes...looks like are chances of having that fab 5 CB class are fading fast...at least we have Shepard! Here is hoping for a GREAT pass rush next year! :)

Dont forget about Shumate!.. kids a stud!...not to mention other nice ath like Prosise! I wish we could grab darby back more than anything, but even if we dont get him or poole...i think the coaches have done a great job improving our secondary for the future!

If we can flip Poole I really don't see the need to land Standifer. We have several "project" db's in this class already. I say with limited scholarships next year hold off IF we get Poole.

Tee
Poole
Shumate
Baratti

This is a lot of coverage and some serious heat at safety. Prosise and Turner hopefully develop into good nickel and dime backs.

thats just crazy. sandifer is a good player and if nd can get him would be crazy not to take him.He will be a good db in college. He just doesn't have the hype or coverage around him that other players do. I really hope he gets in and comes to nd.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that only Prosise is a FS/CB type, the other three safeties being more SS types (or even LB, in Baratti's case)? If so, I'm ok with taking both Standifer and Poole. I'm really concerned about the CB depth ... if you play a team that uses a lot of four and five WR sets, you may need at least four solid corners. Poole and Standifer would bring us to only seven total CBs, three of whom would be true frosh. That doesn't seem like a glut to me.

Not sure what you mean by isolated?

Nampa and Meridian are both approaching (Nampa surpassed) over 50,000 in population each. Both of those "small" towns have pretty much grown into Boise proper as they are within 20 miles of Boise which itself has a population over 300,000. The metro population is nearing 1/2 a million people. So I'm not sure what you would need that Boise can't give you? Again, with a population of over 500,000 people it can be "isolated" because it's big enough to be self-sustaining, an island on its own.

IMO Prosise and Standifer will battle it out in the future for FS if we get Poole.

South Bend's skyline is amazing from campus this time of year.
