False. The Catholic high schools of Cleveland and Cincinnati have plenty of talent and plenty of kids who dream of playing for the Fighting Irish.

I'm not sure what's worse in regards to Meyer...

The doom and gloom from Notre Dame fans or the even greater bravado of the Ohio State fans I have to deal with.

While they may be talented, are they ND caliber football players? The answer is no for the majority of them. There was only one or two this year.

I think it would be interesting to see the proportion of Irish recruits that come from Catholic high schools, nationwide and by state, vs the numbers 10, 20, 30 and 40 years ago. Common sense tells me it's less now, but I'd really like to know for sure. Then, if so, we can speculate on why.

As a Catholic school kid from Youngstown, I could never understand the attraction of Ohio State.

A: The shameless homerism and obnoxious moral blindness of (most) Ohio State fans.

Hendrix, James, Rudolph, Parris, Welch, Ryan, etc etc.

The majority of public kids aren't ND-quality either, so that's an odd way to frame it.

Recruiting against Ohio State didn't get that much worse. Jim Tressel won the Big Ten Championship every year, went to the national championship three times, and put an elite amount of players in the NFL. Meyer can't improve upon that by much.

90% of the elite football talent will stay in Ohio/or go to Michigan. I just don't see us as big of a player over here as we used to be.

Honestly, what has changed?

Look at it this way: on a scale of 1-10, Fickell was a 2, Tressel was a 9, and Meyer is a 9.5. Ohio State fans, and the foolish national media, are seeing the Fickell(2)-to-Meyer(9.5) move and going "Oh wow! Ohio State is going to be unbelievable!" When in reality it's merely a Tressel(9)-to-Meyer(9.5) transition and the program can't do much better.

Ohio State simply traded one elite coach for another. A younger, more charismatic celebrity coach, but an elite coach nonetheless. What is Meyer going to do, win a national championships in his second year, go to two more, and win six Big Ten championships in a row? Big deal, that's been done before.

The hype will fade, Urban Meyer is not God.

I don't think you can just anoint Meyer king of Ohio. Kelly has a few years head start in building relationships with the HS coaches there. If I remember correctly, he had a very successful run while at Cincinnati.

meyer has the name all coaches across the country love for whatever reason, especially in ohio. couple that with now he's in charge of one of the most powerful brands in the country and you have a lethal combination.

i'm not sure coach kelly's ties to cincy are going to stay in effect much longer. he already passed on possibly the best player the queen city area had to offer this year in joe bolden, a relative of one of those coaches he built a relationship with.

been in ohio my whole life and the ratio of ohio state and ann arbor fans to ND fans is very biased and will only continue to increase imo, until we start to win games, which will hopefully be soon. eitherway we should never get too worked up over losing guys in ohio to ohio state or even ann arbor for that matter just b/c that's the generation that we live in.

FYI Kelly did not do much while here with the hs coaches. Not like Tressel. I think Meyer is held in much higher regard here than Kelly. Don't forget, alot of the coaches know him well from his days at BG. He took care of Ohio coaches. Kelly just never had the presence Meyernor Tressel did here with the coaches.

He was at Cincinnati. Its a hell of a lot easier to recruit at Ohio State than Cinnci. And i think your wrong we took a lot of kids from Ohio last year and will continue hit Ohio hard.

Visited OSU this past weekend and is announcing his choice tomorrow. Seems like everything has been pointing to OSU for this kid for awhile.

Stated that OSU and ND were even on his list throughout the season, and when Hinton went to OSU it tipped the scales in their favor. Go Figure

Warriner and Hinton had nothing to do with his commit. He was always a Buckeye!

This kid committed to tOSU a couple of weeks ago. Mods please change the title.

What the hell is this
