This seems like an appropriate time to mention that roughly half of the average cable bill goes to pay for ESPN alone.

I can't wait until a la carte programming over the internet kills cable TV once and for all. Until then, we have to grin and bear it while ESPN rides its monopoly all the way to bank.

When Mike&Mike were working out of a closet with no guests, they were fun and the show was much more about sports. It's a shame.

No comment from them as far as I know but I don't listen to them anymore. It was general comment about ESPN and the way their programming has changed over the years. PTI had a section n Gunner this afternoon. Sorry, didn't mean to muddle the thread.

That's tight. DaVaris very well may be his #1 target this year (don't want to do a starter debate, just sayin'). Good move by the staff to have them room together and build a relationship.

The ceilings are too low, unless Gunner wants to work on sidearm passing. If you hit one of those sprinklers, you'll flood the dorm. My rector almost had a heart attack when I hit the drop ceiling right by the sprinkler with a football my freshman year haha. They could play snow football with their section mates though - there's plenty of space behind west quad.

This sort of surprises me. When I was at ND, which was just a few years ago, freshman football players didn't room together. They got random roommates just like everyone else. Is Gunner moving in with DD just because he's an EE, or does ND put football players together as a matter of course now? I think I also heard that Tee and Day were rooming together.

I am guessing the only players that are concerned are QB's, and frankly I don't care. As long as Golson's reaction is to step up and compete, the other's reaction will have no effect on the team in my opinion.

I can't imagine any other player on the team not being happy about getting the best QB in the class when most of our losses last year can be attributed to poor QB play.

When you finish the season 8-5, you either need to get better or get benched.

Unless Gunner's a douche about it, they probably won't care. They're all high-profile recruits and they'll come back to earth once they're among the normal students.

The early enrollees always live together, which is a good idea to acclimate them to ND life. During their freshman year, I'm pretty sure they'll be randomly assigned. The football players that come during the summer are randomly assigned roommates.

I am not sure where to start with this... You don't know why our staff would pursue the #1 QB in the country? Did you watch our QB play this year? A bigger Tommy Rees? What? Don't compare any big time QB recruit to Tommy Rees... they are on different planets in regards to talent levels...

Kiel ran a spread offense in high school where he ran very effectively out of. Services rate out QB prospects on what their bigger strength is (ie Passing=Pro/Running=Dual Threat), so being rated as a Pro-Style is not saying that they cant run, just that they better at throwing the ball. There is no better fit for our offense than Gunner Kiel.

You obviously haven't watched the tape, so go watch it and report back to us...

Okay, I watched some tape and Kiel looks impressive. Happy? Hooray the Irish landed him. Here's my problem; some people on IE jump right to tearing people's head off for asking an honest question. I'm an Irish fan but I don't spend all of my time living and breathing football. I've never heard of Kiel, and as I said in my post, I was looking for some clarification about what little I do know. Is that a crime? Is it too much to ask the other people on IE to share their more informed opinions?

When I compared Kiel to Rees, I said that he is "more talented." Which means, "better than" for those who have basic reading comprehension. Yes, I did watch our QB this year, and it was far from perfect. I never said it was a BAD thing that ND landed Kiel, I was just expressing some simple curiosity and looking for some perspective. So freaking sorry I haven't watched hours of tape about a high school player I've never heard of. I didn't realize I had to do homework before asking a question on an open forum. If you can't convey information without resorting to the internet forum equivalent of rolling your eyes and sighing with exasperation, than just leave me to my ignorance and move onto another post that meets your high standards. Thanks.
