It is really starting to get under my skin seeing what is going on at O$U. It is seriously like the program has been reborn under Meyer now and all the fans on their boards are basically treating him like a god. Not only that but now all these high profile recruits are now all of a sudden considering O$U (Cyrus Jones, Yuri Wright, Noah Spence, Dante Fowler, and others). If they seriously do not get stiff penalties from the NCAA, and lord knows they are sure acting like nothing is going to happen to them, I will be severely pissed.

It is an absolute joke that a school can blatantly cheat, cover it up, and then come out better on the other end of it. Makes you question if it is really worth it to follow the rules doesn't it?

One can only hope they get slammed with some U$C-esk scholarship reductions. With a failure to monitor a slap on the wrist seems unimaginable..

I just have a very bad feeling that the NCAA is even more corrupt then we already know and some kind of deal was reached behind the scenes with Gee and Gene Smith.

OSU was granted a waiver that allows them to be over the limit of coaches during the transition from Fickell to Meyer.

The stink of all this is that it allows OSU to prepare for a bowl game and have Meyer focus on recruiting all at the same time.
NCAA giving Ohio State advantage while they await punishment | MLive.com

Does this make any logical sense???? The NCAA is waiting to hand down punishment for violations but yet give them a waiver that allows OSU a huge advantage in recruiting. Brilliant!

gambrell's violation of team rules was "you're not as good as the guy we want to give your scholly to"

I actually don't mind the first case if Meyer is in part responding to the atmosphere Tressel left behind. Probably not the case, but he did start to take some heat shortly before leaving UF for a high rate of criminal incidents so maybe he learned a lesson.

The second one seems to be more of a convenience, but could be more to the story.

I guess the guy got an OVI hours after Meyer met with the team to tell them his conduct expectations.

We can judge Urban Meyer by how he treats similar cases at Ohio State in the future.

"Undisclosed violation of team rules" should always be assumed to mean an unfortunate lack of athleticism. If the kid had done something to merit being kicked off the team, the school has every incentive to disclose it. Otherwise, everyone (rightly) assumes they're just making room for fresh meat.

Urban will run the program to school expectations. He's no dummy. He's going to coach within their limits. Florida was pretty loose, tOSU will be tighter.

He's still making room. Urban has fired a shot across everybody's bow. He's just not going to live within the old recruiting grounds. He's going national.

Meyer will go as far as he can to bend the rules and he will be enabled by a corrupt, hypocritical administration. Even after Tressel was exposed as a fraud and a liar, he was defended by the administration and the bulk of the fan base (until it became a matter of program survival, at which time they turned on him). They are delusional sadsacks and do not deserve a winning football program.

He's definitely in the right place. He's a good coach, but he is a ruthless **** and will continue to hound players committed to other schools until signing day. He'll cut players in a heartbeat to make room for his own guys.

What we don't know is which Urban Meyer they hired. The young fiery coach from Utah or the tired coach from Florida who quit his team after getting thumped by Saban, returning the next day saying God spoke to him and promising the players he would be there for their entire careers at Florida and would never coach in another uniform, then quit again after a mediocre season to spend time with his family, then took a job that kept him away from his family, only to sign with Ohio State a few months after his daughter Tweeted that he would never take the OSU job because he was recommitting himself to spend more time with his family.

I guess OSU figured if they couldn't beat the SEC they'd act like the SEC.
