Why do you say that Terry? I might have missed the conclusive evidence in the 3000 pages of meltdown since yesterday, but I can't say I've seen much to indicate that he is gone for certain.

Gotta give you props, TT. I remember way back when, when you said Darby would be the most likely to decomitt. Also, props for the Carlisle call.

He's had one foot out of the door since last summer. As Lax noted, he's visiting Clemson for the second time. He took 2 trips to Maryland. He now wants to visit FSU and/or USC? Please, he's been looking for a way out for months. The "brief" meeting with ND coaches was definitely just a formality to let them know he was decommitting.

Pete Sampson at II seems to think ND is out of the running at this point as well.

Usually, when a guy decommits, he ain't coming back. That's just how recruiting is. The only exceptions in recent memory are the miracle re-commitments of Lynch, Tuitt, and in some form Prestwood.

Would not be surprised if Darby pulled an AC after 1 year.

Lynch and Tuitt both had a moms in our corner after others got in their respective ears. I think we'll really, really need that kinda help with Darby.

Some have referenced Lynch and Tuitt's recruitment processes in regards to Darby. Don't know that the scenarios are similar enough to give me a lot of hope. For both Lynch and Tuitt, when they decommitted they thought they knew where they were headed. So, to me their decommitments were as much of a commitment to another specific school as it was a decommitment from ND. In Darby’s case, he is now mentioning a few different schools that he’s interested in visiting. His case, unfortunately, feels more like it’s about parting from ND than anywhere else in particular that he’s interested in going.

Let's go get Yuri.

These transfers and re-commitments never happened under Weis. I wonder what the difference is in BK's recruiting that changed this.

Amir's father said that the coaching staff was very professional with Amir throughout the entire process. That would include being committed to Stanford, being open, and being committed to USC. If a staff has remained professional through all of that it says a lot about their character IMO. Also after reading TP's five questions with Chris Brown it further proves our staff's character. He said that they were giving him all the time he wanted when other schools were trying to pressure him to commit NOW and that they treated him like he was a 5 star not just an average player in their class. These kids then get to their schools (wherever that may be) and see a sudden change in their coaches, and they remember how professional our staff was.

Didn't Weis have a rule that once you commited you couldn't take visits. Also if you decommited he would stop recruiting you (well that is what I remember at least).

I think the staff builds solid relationships with recruits and once some of these recruits go to the puppet show and see the strings they want to be a part of greatness on and off the field. Turning this program has been EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, but I believe we will do it if we finish strong with the 2012 recruits. Once we get some BCS bowls under our belt, things will get MUCH EASIER. The only hurdle left is a 10+win season IMO. GO IRISH

I don't recall reading anything about Darby's parents and their feelings on this. Would love to hear that one of them is still in our corner.

Agree. We need a breakthrough season to really get this thing rolling. Right now there is still too much that others can use against us when it comes to recruiting. With the team we're building and looking at our future schedules, 2013 should be that year for us provided we find our long-term QB solution in 2012.

I doubt there are many in my corner on this one, but I think Golson is that difference maker and will shine once he settles in. I know that he has not played yet, so I am not claiming that this is based on anything more than his senior tape, his mulch-sport athleticism, and the reviews he's gotten from the team.

Lynch has that potential on the defensive side, IMO. Nix, Tuitt, etc. are definitly good enough to keep teams from zeroing in on him. Ishaq also has that kind of talent, though I would not be shocked if he does not develop nearly as fast.

In this year's class, I think Greenberry could be that kind of kid.

I would think after losing Darby that landing another CB to round out the class would be a high priority correct?

I would be surprised if Wright goes anywhere else but Notre Dame with Shoemate already in the fold, possibly the other New Jersy kid in Fuller, and him being in Diaco's recruiting area of responsibility.
