Will be excited to see Golson and Montana vs Rees and Hendrix in the Blue-Gold game this spring! Add in Crist who will prove doubters wrong and take some snaps in the game and Massa who everyone is writing off....will there be enough balls and offensive plays to go around?

I know that we have a stable of QBs but a true dual threat adds a whole other dimension to our offense. Look at what Denard Robinson did for a less than average Michigan team. Not saying that he needs to be the starter but when he's on the field he must be accounted for, this was a great get for us.

scramble speed plus a good arm.. perfect for the spread.. just think everett keep short pass or option to cam that would be hard to defend.

Itll be interesting to see how Kelly will use him in the system, i could see if he didnt get the starting spot (not next year but as he progressed) maybe using him in special formations, ala Chris Leak and Tim Tebow?

Great pickup, the video was posted a few hours ago, he talks about Notre Dame at the end of the clip

When did he say that? The 1st QB he recruited at Cincy was Zach Collaros.

I was trying to look in past press conference to figure that out but haven't seen anything yet, but one quote I did find interesting was this.

Q. You get so many questions about the backup at quarterback, but do you plan to bring in another one next year?

COACH KELLY: We are going to recruit quarterbacks every single year. I don't think you ever go into a year and say we aren't going to recruit one this year.

We might not take one this year, but I think every single year you are never going to look out across the country and say `this is not the year to take a quarterback.'

So either this kid is just that special, or someone may change positions. Not saying him but maybe Massa, but I have no evidence of that.

Kelly did say that, but also said a few weeks ago that there was no doubt they were going to have a QB in this class. He probably had a good feel that Everett would commit.

Man, that run he had at 1:04 was sick. Same with the play at 2:04.

This guy needed to talk to Lynch a couple of months ago...

Q: Considering Notre Dame's academic reputation, do you have any academic concerns about trying to play both football and basketball?

A: Part of growing is accepting the challenge. You have to accept the challenge in order to grow. In-season there's so much help there, people can assist you and work it into your schedule. They do a great job of accommodating for your athletics.

Tis is true, but looking at Golsons' GPA and what I've read about him he is a very smart kid. Also, he seems to be a hard worker and loves working to improve himself. there is no doubt in my mind that this kid is a RKG and will succeed in life no matter what he does.

That trophy looks pretty awesome for something he won in high school. From a local network no less. Congrats!

This kid is just what we need. There's no reason to think that he won't be our guy in 2012. He's a winner. He expects to win on the field and does the WORK necessary to win in the classroom. I no longer feel bad about the decommits from Florida if we're landing guys like this.

Congrats Golson for making a smart decision in the right direction. but with this sign i could see atleast 2 QB's leaving if not 2 most likely atleast 1. Crist could go to any D-1 school he wants to .... but i think he'll stay. 2. Montana should transfer to a Pac-10 school or just transfer to a smaller school where he can be the starter and see what he can do. 3. Massa will most likely be the odd man out, he could always just switch position (past QB's have done that for ND), like Arnaz Battle, Carlyle Holiday, Gary Godsey, Jared Clark, etc...etc... or transfer 4. Hendrix and Rees will be here to stay

1. No. Crist has blown out both of his knees. He can transfer anywhere, but the chances of him playing at anywhere other than a smaller school are slim.
2. Montana could not win the starting job at a community college. He couldn't start at any FBS program.
3. Massa will probably transfer, which is a shame because he was the one QB recruit who committed after Kelly's hiring.
4. I agree with this.

With regards to Golson...

A) His arm is adequate. Stronger than Tommy's, but nothing truly powerful.
B) He seems to have pretty good accuracy.
C) His touch passes are beautiful. In one six minute highlight video, I could not count how many perfect lob passes he threw.
D) He has great mobility. More than enough for Kelly's system.
E) He seems to play in a spread, which will give him a boost once he gets here in January.

Will he start right away? Not unless he's truly spectacular.

Welcome to the family Everett Golson.
With him committing I hope the staff doesn't forget who is there already. I believe Crist still has something special in him that he will bring out. I was excited to land Hendrix and the sky is the limit for him. Rees did an excellent job filling in for Crist this year. Montana will be on the sidelines for the rest of his career except his sr. year when there is 20 sec. left and Kelly puts him in for that 1 play. I see Massa either transferring or switching positions. We are stacked at QB and were good for a couple of years in the recruiting cycle.

We've got 5 good QBs on the roster now. The key to next year will be finding out early if we have a great one.

Kelly goes through QB's like nothing though. Can never have too many good quarterbacks with this offense.

That said we only need one in 2012.
