Michael Floyd would be a good fit anywhere.

Great hands, great blocker (the best at WR), very much improving route runner, one of the best at jump balls, and a ridiculously dedicated player.

McShay compared Floyd to Jordy Nelson. I think that's a fair comparison.

As a Bills fan, if Buffalo drafts a skill position player in the 1st round I may seriously give up on them... especially if it is Michael Floyd at #10 overall. He's not an elite route-runner, he drops too many balls and he gets hurt all the time. I love Mike, but he should be taken in the teens or twenties.

The Bills absolutely have to re-sign Stevie, by the way. When you can't attract any talent and you can't draft, you need to hold onto the productive guys you do have at any cost. It's not like Stevie is a bad character guy, either. He's made some mistakes but he's not a T.O. or Santonio "THE Thughio State University" Holmes.

Floyd to Buffalo would be a decent pick up for Buffalo.

From Floyd's perspective, however, it would be awful: Arguably worst city in NFL, worst weather in NFL, 1 of the 3 cheapest owners in NFL, bad coach, and bad QB.

He had like one bad game where he dropped a couple balls. Otherwise he catches most anything. The fact he has been so dominant and really hasn't become a good route runner now proves that there's plenty of potential for him to be a great NFL WR. And knowing how dedicated he is to being the best, he's a good pick up for any team.

Admittedly, you do know much more about the Bills roster than I do though. I don't know where they need the most improvement. I can't imagine not picking up a replacement for losing Stevie Johnson would help though.

While I generally agree with the rest of your post, not for the Bills at #10. Buffalo has the worst pass rush I have ever seen in 20+ years of watching the NFL and desperately need help at every level on defense.

Fitzpatrick can't throw the ball further than 15 yards anyway, so taking a receiver in the top 10 would be flat out retarded.

He would be a great fit with the Bears, especially as we transition to a more run oriented offense. His blocking would be very valuable, especially since all our other WRs are speed guys.

I can't answer from a team's perspective, they all have multidimensional problems and that's not my job. More the job of a writer of a home team, so get to it.

As to Michael Floyd: a). absolutely GREAT hands --- one bad miss once in a blue moon is like giving someone "one strike and you're out"; that comment was not only off-base but counter to every announcer who watches him play; he is nationally known as a strong hands "snatcher".

b). best blocker in college football for a WR and in downfield situations; this also shows his SUPERIOR team attitude.

c). unusual spectacular "burst" after receiving the ball; this burst doesn't last for fifty yards so people are fooled into saying that he's not "fast", which is complete bunk when football-effective speed is concerned.

d). has the most awesome physicality of a wide receiver around; Floyd is so much more "man" than the DBs he's playing against that he's on another planet. Getting him the ball with just a little room to turn on the DB is a nightmare situation for him.

e). smart... he's ND.

Don't know that much about the Bills, so I can't say if he'd be a fit there.
But Floyd is maybe the most physically impressive wide receiver Notre Dame has ever had. He's big and strong and knows how to use his body. Tough to tackle - like Mike said, he makes small DBs look pathetic.
Excellent hands. Maybe not super-elite speed but runs well in space. Goes up and gets the ball (watch his touchdown in the bowl game). Maybe the most impressive thing to watch the last year or two is how good a downfield blocker he has become - he wasn't always. And he plays hard. Came all the way across the field to take somebody's head off after an interception against (I think) Stanford.
Also, a lot of the draft analysis I've seen still mention personal issues (i.e. his DWI in the spring). That really does seem to be in the past. By all accounts the guy has grown up a lot in the last year.
We'll miss him dearly.
