I probably would agree. I also think recruits seeing a style of player (w/balls and swag) like Lynch at ND really helps in recruiting as well.

A whole change in demeanor from the Weis era, and I'm glad that guys like Lynch, Tuitt, Tee, and Greenberry are a part of it.

Now if we can lock down Shumate, Neal, and a couple others..... That'd be nice

I have always wanted Odenigbo but I have a feeling we might get passed on by him and we will fill up before Ekanem visits. It looks like we will end with Okwara, which looks like a great fit and perhaps some position changes in the future. (Besides the guys we already have) I am sure we will go hard for LBs next cycle. There seem to be some great ones too!

Dude, if we could throw together a LB haul to go with our DLine haul and DB haul of the last two years...... Oh my....

And what's sexier in recruiting than Big Skill? Last Year, focus on Power. This year, focus on Skill. Next year, focus on Big Skill.

There are some tremendous players already eying the Irish in 2013. Love-hate relationship with recruiting. All I can say is NSD is like another holiday for me.`

Gunner Keil, if you're listening, you can change your mind any second because you would make this class top 5. Tough to win it all without a great QB. Other pieces are in place.

There's a clear pattern emerging here. I'd bet on this staff bringing in an epic crop of TEs and LBs.

Our depth chart will be such a beautiful thing to behold after NSD on 2013. Hell, if we hang on the most of our current verbals, it'll look better in 2012 than it has in almost a decade... to say nothing of the relative talent levels either.

Not just depth, but QUALITY of depth.....

And some people wanted BK fired..

Yeah its becoming quite obvious that BK has a strong plan for this program (which needed rebuilding despite how much ridiculousness is spouted off by irrational fans), are there problems and things that need working out? Yes, of course. But it seems to me, an outsider, that BK and his program are building solid young men, who will contribute to society long after their playing days are done at ND. I'd rather have hope for the future than disdain for it anytime. But I'm a Cubs fan too, so I try to let the cards fall as they may. The time is coming my friends, just some of us are more realistic about what it takes to be a consistent top program in major D1 college football. History has a tendency to repeat itself and history has been good to ND.

I thought the problem was the Cards just keep refusing to fall...

Since Armstead's thread is locked, I wanted to pose this question:

Would ND take Armond even if it meant we weren't getting Arik?

I am guessing that if Arik didn't exist, this decision would be an either/or between ElderArmstead and Cwynar.

Exactly. And why go to all the trouble of getting a kid medically cleared and academically set for grad school for one year...when you could just give the schollie to someone already in the program. Perhaps Armond wouldn't have much interest in ND himself if weren't for Arik being interested in attending ND.

Armond would likely be an upgrade over Cwynar.

Armond's 2010 stats: 43 TT (21 solo), 6.5 TFL, 3 sacks.

Cwynar's 2010 stats: 30 TT (9 solo), 2.5 TFL, 0 sacks.

Armond is 6'5'' 290 lbs v. Cwynar's 6'4'' 285 lbs.

A direct comparison of those stats is probably misleading, since Armond plays in a 4-3 and Cwynar plays in a 3-4. And who knows how productive Armond would be in a new system after having not played for a whole year.

Assuming all other obstacles are cleared (USC releases Armond to us, Armond passes the Faculty Board, etc.), I think the biggest remaining problem is how the team would react to letting Cwynar go in favor of a USC transfer. Cwynar already has two degrees from ND in hand, but I could easily see that upsetting some people.

As irishog77 just mentioned, there are also questions regarding Armond's genuine interest in ND and loyalty. Most of our players hate USC even more than we do; can you imagine one of them transferring and playing hard for our arch-rival?

Per ISD's Mike Frank, he believes that if Armond is cleared by ND's doctors and admissions, there is nothing USC can do to stop him from coming. TIFWIW.

Good. I hate seeing kids getting jerked around by their schools (even Trogans).

Could Ben-Hur have fought for the Romans? I have a hard time empathizing with a Trogan who could play his final year for the Irish. But then again, we are the good guys...

Sean has a smokin' hot girlfriend though.

How much emphasis do we place on this when deciding between him and Armstead the Elder?
