if Molnar was the reason we didnt recruit this kid hard from jump street....then we are better off without him.
what was he thinking? offer him at qb! (or wherever he says he wants to play for chrissakes)

Just watched the tape and love how he throws on the run. I like the idea of him and Golson back there at the same time. Take the spread to the next level.

Of course he could, but he is wayyy too dynamic with the ball in his hands to not have him on offense.
This is true...Then again Will Hill & EJ Banks were dynamic play makers at QB with the ball in their hands and were moved to DB.

Speaking of quarterbacking options, the Irish have already set a contingency plan if Kiel doesn’t commit to Notre Dame, and he’s a really intriguing option. New Jersey quarterback Devin Fuller has come out of nowhere to be an option for the Irish at quarterback, and he’s an electric dual-threat QB that shows the type of versatility Brian Kelly is willing to play with in his offense.

One look at his junior season highlight tape (with impressive production value I might add) let’s you understand the type of athlete Fuller is, and the Irish have pulled back into consideration for a guy a few recruiting services view as a five-star recruit as well.

“I grew up a fan of Notre Dame,” Fuller told Steve Wiltfong. “My coach grew up a fan. That’s our school colors. Everything fits. The school is unbelievable. The opportunities after college would be endless.”

Fuller is being recruited right now by Bob Diaco, and will likely set an official visit to Notre Dame if Kiel doesn’t commit to Notre Dame. He’s been told by the coaching staff that he’s a quarterback in their minds, but he has the type of athleticism that could get him onto the field on both sides of the ball and at a variety of positions.

Obviously, Kiel and Fuller aren’t the same kind of quarterback. But it’s refreshing to see this coaching staff be so aggressive this late in the game, and still find dynamic players that are interesting in Notre Dame. Fuller has taken official visits to TCU and Nebraska and will visit Rutgers as well. He’ll play in the Army All-American game as well.

Athletes like this you don't hesitate get them signed. He will find his own position when he gets to campus with the help of the staff. This kid has great field vision, burst, second gear, fluid hips, and a shake to him. Doesn't matter where he ends up playing he's going to be good.

Wow, just watched the tape...this guy is pretty electric. I feel bad for the team dressed like PSU...they seem to be in like every other highlight.

Besides his athleticism I love the fact that he grew up a ND fan and seems like he really wants to be Irish.

Am I lost? Is this an SEC team now?

Yeah seriously. Do we want to be Urban Meyer?

I, personally, love the idea of him as a project QB. He's going to need some time and reps to develop as a passer... but holy heck does he have upside if he does improve. You could run a triple option attack like Air Force (aka unstoppable) but with better athletes on the OL, WR, QB and RB.

Still think it's going to be tough to out recruit Rich Rodriguez though on this one.

This kid is a special player. Does he have a visit scheduled for us?

Nah, but we're in the running with UCLA and Arizona for one of his last 2 (will definitely take one to Rutgers and has 3 remaining). I'd imagine he definitely takes one to Arizona and I think we beat out UCLA.

Don't sleep on Arizona. Fuller would be special in D!ckRod's offense.

The only way we have a shot with him is if GK doesn't commit... and assuming GK does not commit, DF's quotes make me think that we lead.

Personally, I'd rather have Fuller. Watch how quick his release is, love it.

I love this kid. My question is why weren't we after him earlier? He is a top talent and has been offered by everyone. His whole circle of people love ND and we wait till now to make a push for him? What gives? I'll take this kid with or without Gunner. He is a difference maker with the ball in his hands like a Troy Smith, Braxton Miller, Colt McCoy, Jake Locker and a better thrower than Denard. This is the kind of kid that wins college football games.

I might be wrong, but I think this has been covered quite a few times in this thread- Molnar was not big on him as a QB and Fuller wasn't interested in playing DB, which is where we were recruiting him at the time. Now that Molnar is gone, BK and the boys decided to extend an offer to him at QB. The general consensus is that this is because we're not overly convinced of Kiel committing.

Oh, that's right. Thanks, I just hope it's not too little too late for a talent like this.

Sorry meant offer him a chance to play the position he wants to and just get him on campus. His athleticism will get him on the field early at a number of possible positions. I hope its a position with the ball in his hands.

You're welcome. I'm hardly an insider, but the impression I get is that we have a great shot so long as GK doesn't commit to the Irish.

I would love to land both Fuller and Kiel. I'm not ready to say I want one over the other. In Fuller highlights I really like his speed and the fact that he is a very versatile. He's certainly someone who could see the field early at many positions but it sounds like he wants to play QB more than any other.

I don't recall seeing Kiel run as much in his highlight video that I watched. I do think that he has great mechanics and would do very well in most offenses. I really liked watching him throw on the run and how well he threw the ball. I want them both for different reasons.

GO IRISH!!!!!!!!

There's 0% chance we land both Kiel and Fuller as QBs. Sorry, not happening, if Fuller wants to be a qb he's going to realize he probably won't play over Kiel down the road.

I'm being greedy. For Christmas I want them both to commit and come in here and compete for playing time. We've got good QBs already but competition is usually good for all.

I'm not trying to equate the two but what's to say this doesn't end up like the recruitment of Marcus rios. Sounds like both had a love for ND but we didn't show them love back. Not getting my hopes up for this one

I see your point but if Gunner would decide already than the coaching staff could displace their love accordingly.

It pretty much hinges on his decision right now whether or not Diaco has his coffee black or with extra sugar.

It's not too late to show this kid attention and win his commitment.

im not sure why he would come here as a QB. theres already 2 of him here that havent played with better throwing motion.

I think he belongs in the d-backfield

If QB is his dream, hes not coming here. If playing at ND and playing positions that give him a better shot at NFL are goals then game on.
